I have a little bit of a problem, with my computer crashing. I have a 1.2 Ghz Athlon with 512Mb 133Mhz RAM, a Soundblaster 1024 and a GeForce2 MX200(really rubbish graphics card). When the computer is pretty hot, running at CPU temps of over 45c and system temp at about 30c, the computer can freeze when moving the mouse or viewing webpages. I keep the side of my computer off and a normal house fan blowing into the side too keep it cool.

I normally watch DVD rips on the computer and these take up alot of CPU resource so having a CPU temp of 48c isnt uncommon, but the system temp is still low e.g. only 24 or 25c. The computer doesnt crash even though the CPU temp is high.

I was wondering if the problem is caused by the graphics card being low powered, as it has no fan on it and the bandwidth is something like 1.3GB/s when decent cards are in the region of 7+GB/s. I've had different drivers for the card as I had to format the computer, so I tried some different drivers. Does any have any thoughts on whether a new graphics card would sort out the problem, or whether trying a load of different drivers would sort the problem out.

Mine only starts to get a little trippy at 65 degrees or so - at this point I remember I didn't plug that fan back in again!

Think it may have been fixed by me updating the graphics drivers. As iam running the comp at 52c CPU temp and running the internet, Kazaa and DVD Rip all at the same time. By now it would have probably crashed. Half the time it has crashed when using Kazaa, but as I normally use it when watching DVD's it can be expected. It has crashed while normally on the net, and using IRC. So hopefully upgrading the graphics drivers has fixed the problem.

Only thing now to sort out is a good Case. Mine vibrates like hell, and sounds really bad at high temps. I know its the case as you touch it and it stops. You can fix it, but then it starts again. Any advise on a nice quiet case that doesnt vibrate?

Maybe spyware, as I do use Kazaa, but Kazaa Lite. I have updated my graphics drivers and am know running the comp at over 50c CPU and over 30c System temp, while surfing the net and watching a DVD Rip. Havent got Kazaa Lite open, but usually when it does crash I do have it open. But some of the time its when its this hot and iam just surfing the web.

Its software that came with the motherboard. It tells you the RPM of the different fans in the PC, and different voltages of the PSU.

Maybe, but it has done it before. I formatted the computer just after I got ADSL, and it was doing it before then.

Could it be some type of Driver issue?

Your Cpu heat isnt that hot really, not enough to cause crashing. and your video card should be o.k. without Heatsink on as creative made some of there geforce 2 mx's without heatsinks, i would put it down to software problems mate, the way i would fix it is buy formating and starting again.
