THey'll run fine. Baldur's Gate is better but they are both brilliant games. Pros are:
~Excellant storyline
~Interesting, well developed characters
~Simple combat system, but plenty of different strageties and ideas for you to try out
~Huge world full of history and detail, made up of over 10,000 maps, all with beautiful hand drawn graphics.

Cons would be:
~Takes up a lot of your time

I got Baldur's Gate about a month ago, and I've barely scratched the surface of it :D

You should be able to get Baldur's Gate and Tales Of The Sword Coast (expansion pack) together in a groovy blue and yellow box. I highly recommend it.

I would definitely say Baldur's Gate. I prefered Icewind Dale, but Baldur's Gate eases you into the genre much better than ID does.

Which isn't to say it's easy. Great learning curve. Great game.
