Am I right in thinking that a UK PS2 would have a regional lock for games and DVD's? I have someone looking for a PS2 in an American armed forces shopping mall in Italy but I wont want it if it is locked to ther wrong region. Many thanks.

You can also play region 0 discs which is a free region.

I've trid a few region 1 discs (US) in my psx2, and its no dice I'm afraid. region 2 only.....until a work around is found.

i think if i remember correctly it said things like jap etr? dunno might just be the endless nights of playing tekken?

I'll borrow a US DVD to make sure. In the DVD menu it does say about a region , but they dont call the regions " England" or "America" etc they call them "2" or "1". I read in the offical PS2 magazine that it wont play any dics other than 0 and 2 and even in the PS2 manual it says it wont accept anythin other than 0 or 2. Maybe they made them and forgot to put a lock in it.

When i go to the dvd menu it says " what region are you in?" so i take it it can be told it is in a different region so will play the dvd

Yes. I want to try out a american DVD just to make sure but I think it will only play Uk games and it plays region 0 and 2 DVD's
