Animal Crossing days are real time - the same as ours.

They are based around the Gamecube's clock, a bit like those night levels on Rogue Leader.

Certain things happen at certain times of day, certain days of the week and certain events over the year.
You don't have to eat or sleep, you just play as you feel like it.

The advert claims that while you're not playing, the world still goes on without you. Obviously it doesn't mean this literally, but I expect when you turn it on again, it calculates what's happened since your last save, or something...

No, you can do what you want when you want. The days i think are about 15 minutes long, and on a specific day some characters can only be seen, but if you miss them it doesn't matter, i hope it's not like Pikmin where you miss something and loose a Whole day over it, it's miles to annoying and gets quite frustrating but i doubt it will be like this, you live by your own rules and aren't put in a routine, it's going to be great!!! :D Roll on {Hopefully} Saturday.....

I know it is liek Harvest moon, but do you have to cram loads of stuff into one short day like on the Snes?

Ha ha! Latest my rear end! It came out in Japan on the N64 almost 2 years ago. Granted, this is an updated version, but you can't really say it's his 'latest' masterpiece. But yes, it still is a masterpiece.

Enjoy the game!

well, tomorrow is wednesday and the end of the week is only 2 or 3 days after that. for the game that you are getting, Animal Crossing, i wouldnt be too stressed about it coming too late, considering how good a game it is. also, the game is pretty cool, and well saught after so a 'back order' is pretty understandable. it just means that the pre-orders were higher than the amount of stock. dont fret, soon you will have shigys latest masterpiece in your hands.
enjoy! :)
