The dark side, the others, them. The different people, usualy the 'evil' ones who get thrown in the attic like Barts 'evil' twin brother. Nintendo characters all have had a mixed bunch of alter egos. Arguably Waluigi and Wario do not count, but they do here (!) Link had the infuriating Dark Link, but many more have not had alter egos...........
Wario, Dark Link, and the rather under-used Waluigi are all alternate 'stars' to Mario, Link and Luigi. Although Mario himself was an evil guy in his monkey abusing days, Wario is the 'good bad guy' Hes cheeky, gets his own games, and generaly its fun to play as him. Dark Link? Well, hes just plain annoying. One appearance, in the bloomin' water temple in OOT, kept on dodging ya sword swipes, and generaly made a nuisance of himself. Waluigi, on the other hand, had a slightly larger role in Mario Tennis, but apart from that, nowt.
Of course, characters have had their nemesis, but Bowser and co are not alter egos. Kirby, Bowser himself, Peach, Toad and more have not had 'reflective characters' that reflect a bad image in a weird mirror.
Kirby, for instance could have a giant, slightly browinsh tinge to his alter ego. It would be about 300 stone, waddle along, and general gobble up entire levels as its attack weapon. This kind of contrast to bubblegum Kirby would mean that Kirby is a featherwight Thai boxer that 'floats like a balloon, stings like a, er, bee' ;) to an American Uber-weight wrestler. A giant, browny goldish blob of flab, named Flurby running (or rather rolling) towards you is a pretty different image!
Bowesers alter ego, would be slightly smaller, and perhaps have a nice bluey shell, but without the horrible spikes - they would get caught on the lovely plants growing in 'Koopa Kastle', renamed Coppelia House, in the large Romany Gardens, designed by the turtle himself, King Owser, named so for his whining 'owwws!' to being pricked by a thorn on his lovely rose bushes. He of course, would actualy invite Princess Peach round to tea, and give personaly guided tours himself of his specialy desgined Eco-gardens - 'To save precious Yoshi Ilsands resources'

Peaches alter ego on the other hand, known as Rouge, is a rock goth chick plain and simple. Much like Two Faces alter-girls in Batman Forever, she is the dark one. Dark wine, dark leather and dark men are all the rage for this rebellious sister, seperated from her altogether sweeter but far more guillable sibling while at a very young age. She would live in a one room flat in suburbian London, where her loving foster parents would 'smother her creative insides'. So she becomes a Goth. Great. But she doesn't get picked up by walking fungus, flying turtles of a giant angry looking Turtle, named Bowser.
Living with Rouge is one of the many alter-egos to the many 'Toads' that live in the Mushroom Kingdom. Simply named 'Magic', he likes to visit the Mushroom areas often, simply so the peculiar names can combine, to give an altogether more guilty undertone. Needless to say, he leaves with 10 full baskets of 'shrooms, that he carries on his bulging muscular arms, while he plows through enemies like an invincible tank.
There are many more possible alternates, and I bet you Shigsy and co have a lot more up their sleive. Possibly one for King Boo.....hmmmmm.....now let me see........
