Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy insists he is not worried by his alarming goal drought that has seen him score just once - from the penalty spot - in six league games this season.
That drought has coincided with United's worst start to a Premiership campaign - two wins, two draws and two defeats.
"I am not finding it a struggle up front at the moment - that's not the case," said the Dutch international, who ended last season with 36 goals, just one short of English Golden Boot winner Thierry Henry of Arsenal.
"I accept it is inevitable that people will be looking at me to score the goals and will always look at my figures, but I am not panicking," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"I have actually scored three from eight games in all matches (two versus Zalaegerszeg of Hungary in Champions league qualification), so I am not worried about that at all."
But van Nistelrooy has not scored in open play in domestic football since United 3-0 win over Chelsea last April.
The Reds' £19million signing from PSV Eindhoven suffered the ignominy of being substituted during the 1-0 defeat at Leeds on Saturday, with manager Alex Ferguson claiming the striker's confidence was low.
But van Nistelrooy added: "These things happen to strikers. There will be times, like last year, when you score every game and then periods when you don't score.
"If you win then it is easier to handle when you are not scoring. But you can play a bad game as a striker, yet score a goal and people are happy.
"Against Leeds I created two chances myself by individual action and that's an improvement for me because I didn't do that as much last year.
"I think there are positives in my game like that, but, of course, the ball has to be in the back of the net and that's what counts.
"Scoring is important for a striker and I am doing everything I can in every game to change things and score - and there will be a day when it will be all okay again.
"I am putting all I have got into training and the games and the rest will then come, I am confident of that."

*Everyone laughs*
Well...Its better than a off form Ole.
I'm sure he would be tempted to try and ask for the penalty box to be extended to the half way line to help Van Mans goal drought.
*AHEM*
...would he still have tried claiming a penalty for it?
:-D

I'm sure Van Nistelrooy would have made sure he slipped over it...If he was on the pitch...

I hope he wiped it up before anyone slipped in it.
Back in the day we would have seen 3 strikers up front when we were losing and go all out for a win, so it was rather strange to see a striker replaced with a striker...
And I also don't think he should've been Substituted in the match on Saturday, from what I saw in the highlights anyway - in which I DIDN'T see Forlan on the ball ONCE!
