On September 7th, I was 5th in the Comet Internet queue to pre-order a PS2. Over nearly three months I recieved all the paperwork and promotional material leading up to the final letter (Dated November 10th) telling me that it had been despatched to Comet Direct.

Last Sunday I got a call from them to arrange a release date and they said I could get it on Thursday. Thursday came and went- No Blue Box. After calling them to ask why they told me that I had been misinformed and that they could not despatch the PS2 (Which They Said Was In Their Warehouse At The Time.) until the release date and I could expect it this morning by Parcel Force. Nothing came and I phoned again. They said that I had been misinformed (Agian) and that Sony had let them down and there were no PS2s despatched or in their warehouse and they would be expecting them to be delivered to them today.

What is going on. I was afraid that Special Reserve weren't going to deliver £150 of games and accessories to me in time for the PS2 getting delivered. Special Reserve have only delivered one out of two games and zero out of three accessories so far but at least they can give me a half decent and credible excuse and the fact that all my accessories have been despatched for delivery Monday or Tuesday and that one of the games have to be back ordered understandably but for God Sake what is going on. Comet must have recieved the PS2s by now if they were despatched on or before November 10th.

I may have been 5th in the queue but I wouldn't be surprised if I was the 165,000th person to get one before years end.

If anybody else has a similar let down story or any other Comet Internet customers see this please leave your story on this forum.

I understand, according to MVC trade mag., that around only 86000 consoles were available at launch. Sony reckons it can supply the whole lot of pre-orders (165000) before Xmas. Let's hope so because I'm near the end of the list!!

I was told by my retailer that they were getting all 40 of the PS2's they pre-ordered last Monday (20/11/00), the next day I was told I would have to wait until Sunday (26/11/00). The next day I was told if I had a letter from Sony saying come and get on 24/11/00 then I could pick it up. Did I get this letter? Did I hell. Did I spend 20 minutes having a go Sony Customer Service. Yes I did. Do I know when I get my PS2 yet, do I hell. I have been told by my retailer that the rest of the PS2's they pre-ordered will come in 2 weeks. I'll believe it when I see it.

I think all 165,000 have been sold as sony sent out 200,000 pre-order forms and then relised that they could only ship 165,000 over stopped pre-orders so all 165,000 were sold before they had even entered the country. I think the next delivery is Feb 2001 and 250,000 are heading our way. There maybe some deliverys in the mean time but they are still selling like hot cakes everywhere. Austriala is only getting 40,000. I feel sorry for people who havent got a PS2 as I got excited around 4 weeks before the release date and counting down the days was pain staking.

I to ordered my PS2 from comet. Although i was one of the late ones to place an order (7/11/00) i was promised by the people in the store that i would recieve it before xmas, as it also stated in the newspaper advert. The more i hear about this whole situation the more i think im not gonna get it until next year. I guess the question is, did 165,000 PS2's all arrive on Nov 24th or are they coming in over a period of time????? If for example there arriving throught NOV and DEC then i must still be in with a chance. The sales guy in comet said to me that they were only recieveing the display model on the 24th and that the rest would be arriving in early december. I dont trust this pre-order system at all. Both me and friend ordered a PS2 from comet at the same time. He has had his first letter stating that his PS2 has been reserved. I've heard nothing. Any other comet stories or info would be appreciated.

LET DOWN. Let me tell you about let down.

Someone got my date totally mixed up. I pre-ordered on the 12th September, and someone put the date in the system as 12th OCTOBER. After a lot of losing my rag with Sony Customer Services, i was told to expect it on Monday 27th November. NOW, i have to wait until the 5th DECEMBER because Woolworths cannot deliver it to the store until that date. I did get a free DS2 controller and Memory card out of it though.

I have sent an e-mail to Watchdog about the whole fiasco, and now i am waiting to hear from them and Sony. Obviously i am not the only person to be messed around with this system, and i hope that Sony have not dug their own grave with all the pre-order mess.

I got a letter dated Nov 11th saying I would get my PS2 from Special Reserve and I did. If you were a member of SR why didnt you get it from there as they always get the goods to you in double quick time. I ordered my memory card a week before I got my PS2 as I thought the PS2 came with one but it didnt and I got it the day after my PS2, along with all the other stuff.
