Just to let you all know that I've just popped down the road to my local games shop and they have nice pristine new shiny copies of a certain game that isn't due out for a little while.

Why?

Don't know, perhaps it's being released early, but I'd have a look in your own local games shops and see if I were you. I now have a copy of Shenmue and it's in two Dreamcast cases covered in a cardboard slip case. It's got four discs, three game discs and a Passport disc, which the manual says has got all the game music on.

Unfortunately, I'm back off down the road now to get my car tax sorted. More money for the government, bah!

I picked mine up yesterday from me local import emporium - traded in the Jap version of Shenmue for it too.

I *really* wish Sega had left the original Japanese speech in and just subtitled it instead. Some of the speech is a little ropey to say the least, but it's something I can overlook me thinks.

I've been spending *far* too much time in You Arcade :)

Hmmm, I wonder why all these kids want to play all the time?

*Hey mista! You wanna play soccaa!* ;)

Wouldn't it be great if Hyrule market was buzzing with excitement and noise!

It actually reminds me of playing the first N64 Zelda game, you start off with only a vague idea of a misson and a wide area to explore. It's only by talking to people that you realise what you have to do. The weather and light and dark effects are amazing though, you don't notice them too much until you go in a shop and when you come out it's all dark and the shop signs are all lit up! Also, it's weird when you go past shops at night and you watch as they close up for the evening.

It sounds quite good, although i prefer some simple Zelda games. It's a bit confusing with the less hyped up games, which are very good games, cos' you don't know if it's actually released or not.

Shenmue update: I've tried not to include any spoilers.

*Okay, so no other shops seem to be selling Shenmue until it's proper release date (doesn't mean they haven't got copies though!) The person in my friend's shop didn't notice the release date and sold some anyway! He's still got two copies left that are not put back for people.*

---game---
So far I've just been wondering around the village in the game talking to people. They tell me that other people may know the answers, but I go to them and it leads somewhere else. I've just had my first fight, pressing the coloured buttons at certain times (alright, so I lost the first time as it came as a suprise) and I've already found the arcade (called You Arcades) and played Space Harrier and another game that tests your reflexes on the fight bit to help you later on (wish I'd found this first before the actual fight!)

First Tip: don't press start as soon as the start screen appears, after a few seconds you will see the beautiful introduction, it really is lovely.

I think I've also met a prostitute, she asked me if I wanted to come in for a meal (the japanese use food to talk about relationships, so it seems plausible) but her tone of voice suggested something else. Unfortunately you can't choose the answer!!!

Worst bit about the game: lipsync is like watching a kung-fu movie at best! Also, sometimes you can't get further in the game until you've spoken to certain people. I was hoping it would be a lot more free than that.

My age, minus age needed, = negative number.

Or in other words, not quite old enough. Never the less, when I am, I will sign up through you.

You lot, as my referrals made me £200, but it all got lost because they skanked me. I made £448.54, but I won't see a penny.
