... that you have in Windows that represent your files.... how big are they??? Width and Hight wise??

The icons for specific programs like Word and Excel will be in the root directory where you installed that program. The ones used in Windows will be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

The icons are stored as a resource contained within either a *.exe or *.dll file.

For Word, the icons are stored in the Winword.exe file.

To extract them you need a utility. Try looking on www.webattack.com/freeware for an icon editor which can import icons from GIF, BMP, and executables. Something like SnIco Edit.

On your desktop and in your Start Menu, they are 32x32 pixels. However in submenus on the start menu, and in the menus at the top of Internet Explorer, they are 16x16 pixels.
