You said about prejudice, and I expanded on it, saying basically people who believe all other consoles are rubbish are trapped in a cage. Not all PS2 gamers are trapped in a cage. It was mearly a side comment.
Eg The difference between Sports car GT on the PSX and the PS are huge, so much so it is a different game.
Colin McRae,Toca 1 & 2, Le Mans 24 hr are far superior, World rally championship is sooo much better. The F1 games are far superior in terms of physics , graphics and reality.
True there are no real shooting games and not really any fighting games but the games it has got seem to be more polished than their console counterparts.
I think the "I wouldn't touch anything associated with
Mr Bill Gates if my life depended on it." arguement will be a bit irrelevent next year as the X-Box is set to stomp on everything, including PC's.
So what if Bill Gates is behind the complete product? To me this can only be a good thing. There is no chance of Microsoft going under in the near future and they have enough money to properly market and retail the product and, most importantly, develop a kick a** system.
There are some major players involved in the development who have forgotten more about processing power and graphical quality than Sony, Sega and Nintendo will ever know.
Next year these three will be fighting for second place in the market and they know it.
I played almost every game that was released for the PC over the christmas of 98 and early 99 and I must say that although there were some good games, the PC just cant do anything well except for First Person Shooters and Strategy games. I also got pi**ed off with half finished games and games with bugs (such as Sin, Hidden and Dangerous etc).
Anyway, I have a PC but I dont enjoy playing games on it. I could have got a Dreamcast but as I have said again and again there really are not any games on it that appeal to me.
Grix please quite it with the monkey comments. I have enough money to get any of the machines currently available and if I think they are a good investment then I buy them. Hence my PS2 purchase. It has already provided me with much pleasure and I look forward to years of great gaming.
As for the X-Box I must admit that I wouldnt touch anything associated with Mr Bill Gates if my life depended on it. But that is my opinion.
I'm not being prejudiced just realistic. The two games i mentioned above, in my opinion, are the best games to be released this year.
If the PS2 had any games i consider a "must have" then i would buy one, but so far there are none now and none in the future that i cant play on my PC or DC.
The only game on the PS1 i would have loved is Tomb Raider 2. I had a Saturn and played Tomb Raider 1 and loved it. When Sony bought the rights to the sequel it did, i admit, make me a bit biased because it proved that Sony were only in it for the money and were trying to crush Sega.
So from now on i will only buy hardware which i consider the next step, like the X-Box.
Then he'll want another........
a clever allegory?
The truth is that both Sony and Sega have and will take a while to get a good library of games.
It took from the time the DC was released to launch in the rest of the world ages to release a decent amount of good games.
The PS2 has been around since the early part of the year and it too has taken it's time to produce good games.
There all the same apart from maybe the X-Box which will be launched with a huge amount of AAA titles.
I think the advances we will see with the X-Box will blow the unbiased away.
Technology is not slowing down just because the difference between DC and PS2 is only little. It's just the cost of bringing us the best graphics and speed will put the prices up too high. People will no longer pay a massive amount for a games console so the manufacturers have to wait untill the prices from the parts manufacturers are reduced.
Oh by the way the only game where you could be confused into thinking you are looking at a real person is Shenmue. I dont like RPG's but the work Yu Suzuki has put into this is astonishing.
