I don't mean to sound ungrateful to Sony, they have done a lot for the name of gaming and the Playstation was a great console, but I'm cynical as to whether they did as much as the press would have you believe. I think there is a certain amount of truth to this, but it's far too overplayed. Anyway, I still get funny looks from people when I mention that I like games, it's like they all look at each other and say 'hey, he has something wrong with him, he likes g a m e s'
Paranoid, me? nooooooo.
I think Sega will soon come back to conquer the gaming world, in a fast world, people want quick pick up and play games and Sega with their Arcade Background cant be ignored any longer.
Itll also be interesting to see what the big N will do with a DVD like media, Nintendo will surely have some Killer, must have games too on the Gamecube.
I think in 4 years time the playing feild will be more open...one things for sure....the race to release the next console will surely be crucial to the survival of Gamecube and/or X-box....hopefully the Gamecube will prevail.
Nintendo has largely always been aimed at the younger gamers (8-14yrs?) with the likes of Mario and the large amount of cartoony type games that have been released in the past, and they missed out on a lot of income by not tapping into the older gamer market (although they are now making up for this, or trying to play catchup with Sony anyhow.)
Sega I'm not sure about. They never seemed to have a demographic in mind, what with Sonic and Resident Evil both released for this console. They seem to appeal to the broader spectrum of ages (Sega backwards, but everyone knows that by now, don't they?). It will be interesting to see how the demographics of gamers change as time goes on.
