I used to only really play first person shooters, but I'm starting to get converted slowly.

I'm anticipating two games now, and neither are first person shooters, they are "The Getaway" and "GTA Vice City". I'm also tempted to get "Mafia". These games are springing up from nowhere, before their was only the likes of "GTA" and "Driver" but now more games developers seem to be paying attention to these kind of games.

I'm looking foward to GTA Vice City because lets be honest the original was absolutely superb with all that freedom to explore and complete missions however you wanted. Even simply exploring the city proved fun, it was like even better than real life driving, you could run over pedestrians, perform dangerous stunts, or go down a busy road at 70mph without the fear of death (in real life that is). GTA Vice City should be exactly like the original, with promises of more weapons, more vehicles, and larger islands. This means even more exploration, even more destruction (that chainsaw looks funs) and even more ways to cruise, I'm just drooling at the thought of a motorcycle...

"The Getaway" looks fantastic but for different reasons. The photo-realistic visuals. I can honestly say I've never seen better (their might be but as far as I'm aware no so don't rip me apart). "The Getaway" apparently features 50 cars, is plot-driven and mission based and takes place apparently the most accurate depiction of a real life city in any game made so far. An authentic 70 square miles of London. Fantastic. Even individual bus stops and shops are in their exact locations. (Although I'm not sure the owners will like seeing their shops the scene of a crime in this game, but I don't give a damn about controversy). The annoying thing about "The Getaway" is all I know is that small information and those photos. I can't say anymore. It's such a mysterious game revealing only smidgens of information, and those games irritate the hell out of me. There's nothing I hate more than anticipation, but as least with GTA Vice City I have an idea of where I stand.

So I'm being converted, these crime-sims are really getting to me. I don't care about first person shooters anymore. I couldn't give you the name of an upcoming good game if I tried. It's this freedom I like, and controversy. To me games are games, they do not affect people's minds, they are just games to be played. They are like books and films, only you are the star.

I want to be part of a gang, tearing through the streets chased by policeman. I want to get out my car and empty bullets through a police cars windshield a' la Reservoir Dogs, I want to perform an armed robbery, I want to be part of a gang of gangsters performing the ultimate crime ever. I may sound incredibly violent and evil, but it's only a game isn't it? I'm not going to do that in real life, games are just interactive films to me. I better stop there before I wander of topic into that big games and violence argument.....

Basically I'm just addicted to these gangster games! And if anyone can give me some more information on "Mafia" I'd love to hear it, I really want to know what it's like because I haven't a clue.

I just like the way driving and first person shooters are coming together. It gives a much more varied style of gameplay and is just so good..

I'm the opposite, most FPS games seem to bore me. Only Unreal Tournament on PC and Halo on Xbox have really hooked me in so far.

I much prefer arcade style games, mainly because once you finish them you can go back and play them for more points or to unlock more courses/cars etc. With a lot of FPS games the only way you can come back to them, bar repeating the whole game, is in the multiplayer. I guess that's why I like UT, because the multiplayer is online and also the single player game is not really based on a story, just a series of battles (like a beat-em-up).

It's good to have a whole range of different games though, as you will find they suit different moods you have at the time.

Well, you've read my Mafia review now, and now you want the game, heh

I, and a lot of others, can vouch for how amazing it is

Mixed games seem to be the way forward, like racing/action titles such as GTA3 and Mafia.

I want some first person shooter/racer games soon
