Im on about games in general.
Now some how games get hype, be it because it’s a sequel, who made and/or what it looks like.
But once these games get the hype it doesn’t seem to drop until its released, and then its found out to be bad or is good and the hype lives on.
But what is annoying me, after finding out I spent lots of money on hype alone, is the way people will here about a game and then preorder it before its even released.
SSBM and perfect dark are good examples, after the success of SSB and goldeneye people were expecting the same but better.
This was not the case with people finding that they were good but didn’t somehow capture the original game.
So this rare “thing”, I know I said it wouldn’t be about it but it fits in to what im saying, people are already planning on buying an Xbox if they move, or committing suicide.
But why? Yes sure I admit rare is one of the best, if not the best, games developer around. But have we seen anything that actually proves they are still the same way they were before?, Starfox was made by Rare AND Nintendo so I still need convincing.
Now games are getting lots of hype at the moment, Starfox, halo 2 and the getaway, but why? Is it the graphics of the getaway? The people who are making Starfox? The sequal to one of the best games around?
This is not enough for me, I wont preorder a game until I get an HONEST review of it, not one from a mate who will say it’s the best ever as he’s played it before me, or saying its rubbish because he cant afford it.
My advice is don’t buy a game because of hype, wait until you read an honest review, and found its get the game play you like, or even play it yourself.
I must have wasted about £200 on hype alone and in games maybe 1 in every 5, think first, don’t become a statistic.
