STONE ROSES guitarist JOHN SQUIRE has said his old band are likely to reform for a new album and tour.

Squire has always been reluctant to speak out about a future for the Roses. However, in a new interview Squire said that although he wouldn't be interested in a nostalgic reunion tour, he would consider going back into the studio with Ian Brown, Mani and Reni to work on a new record.

"I don't want to do a reunion tour, because that would be putting matters to rest in the wrong way," he told Teletext. "If we were to reform, it would have to be to make a new album, and do a proper tour with new songs. I believe that will happen one day."

I keep reading loads of conflicting reports about this. It's like the standard John Squire/Ian Brown interview question and they always say no. Maybe now Squire's done his solo album he feels the need to record with the 'Roses again. He's right though - playing the old stuff would be cack. Mayb not from their first album, because that is still genre defining stuff. Everything after was a bit so-so, drawing on Spinal Tap. I don't think they'll do it.

Methinks Mr Squire might be running out of money. Thats normaly the reason bands reform after such a long time.

They should just let it lie.
