Are you somewhere in the UK which does not have current access to broadband internet! Many people are and this may be one reason why its taking Sony so long to release the PS2 broadband package. British Telecom have deliberately missed out some places in the UK and due to recent pressure by the public they are asking for people to post their demands for broadband in their area.

Help to get UK-wide broadband by telling BT to get their rear ends into gear.

Check their website and get britain gaming!!!

Cheers!

yea Boz i was the same but most AI are more inteligent at games then other people and i suppose it would be ok to play with just your mates online (most of my mates are good at computer games) because it will be better then split screen but the consols are not ment to be online there a 1 and sometimes 2 person only things.

Finnaly someone else understands.

When i first played online gaming my first thought was "yeah this is great" being able to play with people around the globe,

But after the first week or so it kinda became boring and it soon began to be a i player game with good computer AI.

It will be better than normal multi player for the first month or so then people will realise that multi player gaming with mates around the house is better becuase you can speak and other stuff at the same time.

If the internet gaming on consoles is very cheap and very easy to get logged on and all, then yes i may get it. Until now im not bothered.

Sony have made a complete mess up of the promised PS2 online experience.

How ?

1) America and Japan both have their own networks that cannot interact, and before everyone says its the language barrier, it isn't (reportedly) possible to even try.

2) So far all that is offered is online gaming, that isn't an online experience, it's just multiplayer. A web browser wouldn't be too much to ask for.

3) Suicidal insistence that the UK network will be broadband only. Technically a great idea, realisitically thye're just doomed the whole idea as it makes the cost greater for most console gamers. The idea has always been that you'd buy the modem, your PS2, plug in. Now it's, buy your modem, buy your PS2, install broadband on your line, pay an average of £30 for that line, subscribe to the Sony network, plug in. Yay ! Not :(

4) No clear plans, only vague double page spreads in OPS2 magazine occasionaly and snippets on the UK website.

Sega, no matter its faults, had the Dreamcast ready and working on dial up with little problems and without massive cost. Given the small Dreamcast user base it was something of a success. Sony have the money, massive user base, and very little else !

Or, to save words, Sony has screwed up.

From what I've read about the US PS2 online network, it doesn't come with a web browser, so you can't surf the interent, just play games. Paying £20 a month just to play games, isn't worth it at all, trust me online gaming is overrated.
