I think thats fair to say. They didn't sound like full mastered studio efforts to be honest.
As for the scratchy-scratch non-guitar-guitar stuff I quite like the idea of Morello doing something that we wouldn't expect from him. After all it aint Rage anymore...

According to Tom Morello the demos that surfaced weren't anything like finished... which is probably true because there didn't seem to be too many is-that-sound-coming-out-of-a-guitar?! moments on it...

Maybe they forsaw all the reviews, saying they should have been called 'Pedestrian' instead.
That stinks. I like Civilian and its not as if they have a legacy behind them... I bet Cornell had something to do with it...

Especially the first 1 and the other that goes:
"Dur-dur wickky Dur-Dur wickky wickky wickky" and though the others were rubbish.
But now I like them.
If I was in Civilian, I'd hold a gun to Cornell's head and say "You can sing with gusto, stop moaning like a raped donkey you ponce" and make all his vocals sound like they do on "Outshined" and "Rusty Cage" from Soundgarden.

Apparently, they've now changed their name to Audioslave, a name that could suck a golf ball through a garden hose.
