Thats according to the Metro news paper, was flicking through it today when I came across this article:

"PARENTS who have spent hundreds of pounds on the latest games console can relax - the current generation of machines will not be replaced until 2005 at the earliest.
Sony, which makes PlayStation2, has ditched plans for a speedy launch of PlayStation3. It had thought of shortening PlayStation2's life cycle to compete with the high sales of Microsoft's Xbox. But, with worldwide sales of 33million - albeit with a year's head start on its rival - PS2 has outshone Xbox's 3.9million sales.

'At this point, the future on the PS3 is pure speculation, adding,'said a Sony spokesman, adding: 'Five years is a reasonable life cycle'.

Just 4million GameCubes have been sold since last autumn, leading to industry speculation that maker Nintendo could pull out of the games hardware market."

End Of Article>>>>>

Do you think this is true, well I think its a load of bull!!! I mean the ninty part is, the PS3 is being delayed.

The PS3 hasn't been delayed.

It was never going to be ready before 2005 anyway.

Nintendo aren't pulling out of the games market.
Yes, they have said that the Gamecube might be their last console, but that's because they think it can do everything they need it too.

If they find they need more power then they'll make a PS3 beater.

Indeed it is. So have you decided on a GameCube da_1_n_only? Remember, it's getting Timesplitters 2 and X-Box isn't.

It's a shame Rare may be going, but as long as Nintendo continue to make quality and innovative titles, they could just manage without them.

i see wisdom in nintendo making there bit hits, e.g mario zelda star fox etc.

Sales will be booming and it will just show what games in the 128bit era are meant to be like.

Apparently GameCube sales were up by 170% on the day of Super Mario Sunshine's Japanese release. Once the new figures come out, they should be around 6-7million.

The figures do look promising a bit. I think with titles like Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, and other great titles the Cube will increase in sales. Like in America Mario Sunshine helped the cube sales increase by 50%, I think they sold 10million cubes or something like that.
