What kind of games do you like, how much do you like, and why? Those are the questions I'll be asking myself today (but hopefully other people will take the time to fill this in too), and hopefully I'll find one particular type of genre that I can really point out as my favourite in the future, as surprisingly I don't have one of those right now, and never have. Anyway, onto the actual topic...

1. FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS:
Well, the FPS genre has been one I've often associated with the hardcore but intelligent gamer in general, for some reason or another, but it's never really a genre I've forced myself to pay attention to, simply because I'm not really a fan of shooters in any way, as playing as hard and brutal characters crawling around large mansions armed with rifles trying to gun down monsters and various other supposed-to-be-scary creatures doesn't and never has appealed to me. There have been some FPSs that have stuck in my head, such as the amazing Perfect Dark, and the stunning Medal of Honour: Frontline, but aside from that, there's not really anything in the FPS world that I would want to involve myself in.
First Person Shooters get a 6/10.

2. RACERS:
Racing games are the kind that get my adrenaline pumping! The kind that make me anticipate my driving license tests! The kind that I want to slaughter my mates times in! Driving games are brilliant, to say the least! I enjoy nothing more than a quick blast around the Super Speedway in Gran Turismo 3 or a nice whizz around Hokkenheim in TOCA, crashing through all of the other cars - racing games are the kind of games that get my blood pumping, and are the kind that make me want to play on, whether it be for the purpose of getting a new and amazing car, just to try and obtain a new lap record on a particular course, or even just to have a nice rattle around my favourite course in my favourite car, but whatever it is, I love every moment, and for me, the Driving genre of game is pretty much the most favourable type. I love it all!
Racers get 10/10.

3. ADVENTURE:
Could come under the same category as Platformer, but doesn't, as Adventure games take the whole collecting thing further, include more expanded areas and have more of a character based plotline. Adventure games aren't the kind that I'll really pay attention to at all. I've never liked the idea of going on adventures in real life, and it's the same with games. I won't buy any unless I'm strongly advised that the game is a classic by many people. Won't even sniff at them unless.
Adventures get a 4/10.

4. PUZZLE:
Everyone enjoys a puzzle game, right? Well, I certainly do, and games such as Tetris still can get me playing as they are so addictive! Well, really, probably not Tetris, but puzzle games are the kind that get me hooked, and are the kind that I can enjoy if I'm playing for a long stretch of time and am bored. Super Monkey Ball is the perfect example of a perfect Puzzle game.
Puzzle games get 8/10.

5. PLATFORMERS
Platformers such as Donkey Kong and Mario are the kind that agree with me, because I enjoy playing them. I think the colourful stuff agrees with me more than the dark, bland and boring dark colours, such as the ones in the Legend of Zelda's caves, which have an effect on the line of sight and also make the game darker and more dreary.

6. ROLE PLAYING GAMES:
Mainly known as the RPG genre, and RPG gaming is one that became much more popular with the release of Pokémon a few years back, and has continued to thrive since back then. Usually played in 2D, but some of the RPG games take on a 3D role, but no matter what 'D' they are in, most of them revolve around the same sort of plot: which is one that involves collecting fierce beasts and using them for various activities, or

7. MISCELLANEOUS
The type of gaming that's always confused me. Whether it be in the form of a game like Pokémon Snap or in the form of a game like Pikmin, it's always a kind of genre that's had me scratching my head in bemusement. A game I've been very impressed with recently is Stuntman, which I think I can say fits into this topic, as although it includes cars, doesn't involve racing them, and it doesn't fit into any of the other genres anyway, so it stands here. Anyway, Stuntman is a brilliant game, and one that should do the Miscellaneous gaming department well, with it's superb crashes, excellent car physics and great plotline - it's amazing! But enough of the Stuntman promoting, and back to the Miscellaneous chapter of this topic - Miscellaneous gaming is one that can confuse me quite a lot, but one that can produce mighty fine games if the developers work hard enough on them. Miscellaneous games are strange, but most of them are pretty damn good, and ones that aren't a waste of cash.
Miscellaneous gets a 7/10.

8. BEAT-'EM-UPS
Fighters have always been the type of game that I've taken on as more of a 'multiplayer genre', as they always have "hard as nails" characters beating the hell out of each other, and what better a way to kick in your mate than through a console game?! Beat-'em-Ups can be good, or they can be bad - it's as simple as that. I've never had any likeness for the Tekken series or the Dead or Alive series, but I like games like Smash Brothers and Soul Calibur that include weapons and lots of fun, and not just plain solid kicking-in of the opposition.
Beat-'Em-Ups get a 7/10

9. SPORTS:
Well, there are various types of Sports games around, and EA hold the rights to produce almost every Sport in a game annually, which they never fail to do, but the Sports games I enjoy most are games such as Pro Evolution Soccer, NBA Street and SSX Tricky, simply because they're fun to play and not just a bag of realistic looks, which most of the EA games are. Sports games are the kind of games that are better played with mates than on your own, because they can become dull and lifeless without anyone to play them with, and beating mates 3-0 at Pro Evo is definetly a much better achievement than beating the CPU 3-0 in a league match for the 100th time. Sports games are fun, but only if you have a few friends around to make them fun.
Sports games get 9/10.

Well, there you have it. My low-down of the main types of games, my ratings and why I rated them as such. What's everyone else's ratings of game genres and why? Do the compare to mine? We'll see.

I like them too, but I didn't include them as they're a bit old hat now in my opinion, but I'm certainly looking forward to both versions of these games coming to the Cube. They will both rock extremely. :-)

And how can you not call ToCa fun?

Hmmm...

All your racers were realistic ones.
What about the "fun" ones like Mario Kart or futuristic ones like F-Zero X?

Perhaps they should go in a different catagory.
I find them much more fun than the boring old realistic ones...
