My printer doesn't seem to be communicating with my PC, I'm guessing that it is the serial cable at fault, but I thought I'd ask before going out to buy something I don't need to. It's an Epson Photo Stylus 700 by the way.
I think I'll leave it like that for a bit :)

Well, it isn't the fact that it's offline. Epson printers don't have an online/offline button.
Are your timeout settings correct?
My printer throws an error with the computer every time it prints due to the fact that I can't be bothered to set the timeout settings, but leaving it for a while usually gets it going.
