i'm all in favour of a good franchise, cos you know what you are getting. however some companies fail to use this power to their advantage, a well known game can be far more experimental than a unheard of one.

think of the immense difference between warcraft 2 and 3. the variety of gameplay and introduction of a rpg element to the basis of warcraft 2 has resulted in an immensly more pleasurable experience.

however tony hawks 3 is incredibly similar to the the original, and new tracks and maybe a couple of new tricks doesn't make me think i gotta buy that. it seems much more like an update that should be downloaded.

i feel that big companies should experiment far more than they do, as it will provide good rewards. think of tomb raider, its downfall was that the games seemed like updates not a new game in themselves. same with the sims, the sane world is sick of em'.

Yeah im getting bored of that too.

Really i find i only buy one sport game of each sport, ill explain.
I have ISS2 and im not going to get another one becuase i dont care about up-to-date transfers and they cant improve much more becuase footy is footy and not a made up game.

Tomb raider games i never liked as i found them hard to control.

Sequals i hardly ever buy, unless it a shoot-em-up, adventure or RPG.
Becuase i find that they can make big changes in them.

When in racing and tony harkls games they cant add anything which wouldnt be a fad then get boring, e.g. burnout 1 + 2 all they can do is new tracks and cars, with the fad of police chases which would soon becoming boring and the "norm". As for tony hawks im getting 4 and thats it.
