1: Sicko price cuts: Consoles are at a very competitive level of price wars, more than ever before. The Gamecube being released at a really low price at launch, the loss making £100 for x box a few months back and now the ps2 and x box down again. Its even being said both might drop to £150 round the winter holiday time.
2:Nintendo may stop making consoles, but not handheld. They still own the handheld market, and would be foolish to throw that away but what Im sure they are considering is Segas move of being a games developer only. The amount mario would sell on sonys console seems to be tempting them. If they did go no console, their games would definately go mulitformat. Hard to believe maybe...but i see the sega logo in front of me on my gba playing sonic advance and I never believed that would have happened a few years go.
So where would this leave the games industry? Well, I dont know how the x box will carry on but from the looks of things, in competition to sony, microsoft might back out if the x box does horribly. They cant go into games like sega and nintendo obviously, and this leaves sony alone in the console market. i cant imagine anyone going against them right now. Would this mean one format? With sega, nintendo and sony games all on one? Sounds a dream and it has its advantages as aforementioned. But with this monopolistic market the lack of competiton might mean high prices for the console and control with sony and what happens and what doesnt. Plus is PS3 has no competitors it leaves no alternatives for developers to choose their format, and with PS3 being not very develpor friendly it could mean a lot of smaller developers wouldnt have much of a chance. This would be a big change in the games industry, maybe a really bad one. What do you lot think?
P.S has anyone sold a game 2 a shop and then had to pay more than u sold it for to buy it back when you realised wat an idiot you had been?
i remember selling mario kart 64 for a fiver because it didnt live up to the original then when my mates came round for some multiplayer and found it missing they made me buy it back for a tenner
my suggestion: no matter how much you get bored of a game DO NOT SELL IT you will regret it
