Family Gaming, as a whole, does exactly what it says on the tin. A family playing Computer Games. Now, this is not possible on one player games, well, it can be if you take turns, but for the sake of this post I will leave them out. Now, take a typical multiplayer game, one that is suitable for all the family and is quite fun to play. Quake you say? Get out. When was the last time you saw parents allowing their kids to play Quake together, hum? Precisely, you haven't. Anyway, let's take Mario Party. It's fun, its main emphasis is on Multiplayer and it's suitable for all the family. Now, imagine all the family sitting on the sofa, with, er, Billie on the floor as the sofa only takes three people. After thee rounds of Mario Party, the Family is having a good time, everyone is Joking and they are all relaxed. When the game ends, everyone is left feeling relaxed, and have had a good laugh. They then have the option to play again. So, Family Gaming can carry on for a long time, but it has many other uses….
1. Family Feuds.
Take two average boys (or Girls) named Billy and Fred (or Jenny and Susie) who have had an argument. "Over what?" What? You mean I have to go into that much detail? Fine, they only have one Action Man, and they can't decide who gets to play with him. "Hur Hur Hur, play with him. Anyway, girls don't play with Action Man!" Fine, Action Man if it's two boys or Barbie if it's two girls. Now, they need a means of ending this feud, and they have already consulted their parents, but to no luck. Now, they could go all old fashioned and toss a coin, or they could battle it out at Goldeneye or Fifa. Whoever wins, gets to play with Action Man. Simple enough, and you have fun at the same time. Add one on for Family Gaming then.
2. Bringing the Family together.
Some Families, whether it's their fault or not, are separated on a regular basis. Whether the father or Mother is away on business trips often, or the Kids are un-social hermits, they never spend time together, not even for a Sunday Dinner. "I always have dinner with my Family, who doesn't?" Yes, well, you're the Average family, but for those that never spend time together, Family Gaming can help them to get to spend quality time with each other, whittling away the time playing super Mario Kart, or SSX Tricky. You wouldn't notice it at first, but if they were to stand back and look at themselves playing Computer games together, maybe they would realise that games are bringing them together, whether they are racing to see who comes first, or working as a team, the family unit can never be stronger whilst Family Gaming is happening.
3. Happiness.
Sometimes, family members can feel depressed, unhappy or just plain sad. They feel like they aren't wanted, are left out and have no friends they can talk to about it. The parents, who are aware of the issue, can't find a good enough way to approach the situation, and decide to opt for family gaming. By means of teams, the certain depressed family member can feel wanted, happy and will have a good time. Comments like, "Please, go on my team, you are much better than me!" and "Hey, it's my turn to have you on my team!" can change a person's view from feeling unwanted, to feeling special. It also works the other way too. If someone craves attention, and they feel that the family depends on them, comments such as, "Oh, you're not going on my team, you're rubbish!" and, "Hey, you're meant to have him/her this time!" will easily put that certain family member back in their place. Happiness through Family Gaming is easily achievable, and is a sure way to cheer up any person, or put them in their place.
4. Parties.
Family Gaming can also branch out to relatives too, and can turn a boring dinner party with prawn won-ton's and cheese and pineapple on tooth picks to an exciting evening, with many tournaments and exciting ways to play. Take Aunty Doris, she is all alone since Uncle, erm, Bob left her, and she dreads coming to Family Parties. Now, it so happens that she owns a new console, one that the other Family Members don't have, and she brings it round with her to the party. That games console can bring her many, many hours of enjoyment, warmth from others and that feeling that she isn't alone. Also, take Uncle Bob, but a different Uncle Bob to the one mentioned above. He happens to be the Family grouch. He finds everything and everyone annoying, and hates socialising with others. It also, through coincidence or fate, turns out that he, too, owns a new console, one that's different to Aunty Doris. He decides to bring it round with him to the party, so that he can lock himself away in another room and keep away from everyone else. Enter Family. They waltz in, and ask if they can play. Uncle Bob reluctantly agrees, and it turns out that he has a great time. Both Aunty Doris and Uncle Bob wouldn't have had such a good time if it weren't for their consoles.
So you see, Family Gaming has many uses. Whether Parties bore you, you are unhappy or you never see your Dad/Son, you can be rest assured that Family Gaming can be you little ray of light in the storm of Family Life.

Invisible? *Whimpers*
:D
Family gaming comes in a tin? Lemme ask you, is it a square tin (like SPAM, Corned Beef etc) or a round tin (like peas, carrots etc)? Is it a big tin (like new potatoes) or a small tin (like fruit cocktail)? So many questions.
On to the topic. I am like number one, with the "I will beat my brother game". I rarely play games with my family. Other then, of course my brother, no-one else is a gaming/PC fanatic. Excellent post anyway Chipsy, and it's good to see you're still willing to enterain us woth your posts. Now, we will wait for EotM3...
