Now now, you'll probably reading and thinking, "Why is he bringing up Perfect Dark 2 when the game isn't gonna come out for another 2-3 years?" Well, my dear forum friends, speculation is the answer to everything. And the only way to hype up games is speculation. So I am attempting to hype up Perfect Dark 2 (or as some know it as PD Zero).... This is just a post about some cool features which I want in this game.... So onwards we go!

Now, the coolest part in every game has to be innovative features which stun you. In order for a game to be truely a classic, I believe they deserve some mad innovation skills. Perfect dark is no exception. Instead of the classic filled action sequences of our hero running around shooting everywhere. I think Joanna deserves some style that can only be found in action movies, say from any John Woo flick... Maybe give her some kind of context sensitive button... For example, if you're in big trouble and are surrounded in a room with tons of guards, what would you do? You could shoot at all of them at once, hide off behind an object and shoot at them every so often while avoiding personal damage, or run away. But if we equip the new game with a sort of context sensitive button, if and when Joanna is in different situations, she responds to different things. So instead of randomly shooting at the bad dudes, you can press the button and slide across the room on your side while shooting... But not in slow motion ala Max Payne, The Matrix, or dead to Rights. Do you understand what I'm trying to say. In different occurences, when you're in trouble, you can do a move which seems designed for that problem at the moment. Now think if Rare does a whole bunch of tricks... Wouldn't that increase the replay value since hardcore gamers will try to find all of those moves.... Maybe. Perhaps.... Moving on.

Single player Perfect dark was cool but everyone will agree that the multiplayer was the heart and sole of this N64 gem. So what can Rare accomplish to change the ho-hum state of the norm? Well, try out different modes. Every multiplayer shooter hs a deathmatch of sort and this would be no exception. But new modes could be included which actually makes the player play rough and tough. Perhaps a sniper mode where your team hides in a large area kinda similar to Conkers Bad Fur day's The Beach. The opposite teams does what they can to get to freedom. Only instead of enabling the snipers to stay in a dull, one location, they can go where they choose. Find the best spot and kill the guys. That's how the game could work. Other modes could be added as well... I'll definitely want to see some sort of Anti-Gravity mode as well.....

Polish and shine are key aspects as well. Imagine running on the beach, your legs getting tired, and being slightly slower because of you sinking into the ground (obviously I am putting a beach out of proportion...). Now what if a guy with a machine gun is trying shoot you. He's up on a cliff trying to actually hit you while you run. Now what do you see? You see sand sprawling upwards from the force of the machine gun bullets. As you're heart races you only hope to reach cover.... Imagine this. This is a war movie in a game. This would kick a.... But we must include more polish as well. In the original PD, when shots were fired at the wall, the bullets did leave an imprint but smoked for a second. If you shoot at the wall, I would want to see smoke gushing out of the hole as well as debris flying everywhere. Realistically as well. This could pose the same effect as my thoughts on the beach shooting.... It'll get your heart racing as you know you may (or may not have) dodged death...

AI. AI is getting crucial in games nowadays. No longer are developers still wasting energy in scripting the charcters movements and routes. Well that's a half truth of course, but in PD, there should be no scripted characters. If the enemy hears a shot, I demand he investigate, WITH his gun ready in hand AND WITH caution. This will force you too use stealthy weapons instead of relying on the heavy hitting guns (unless you want a gang of bad guys to jump you). The enemies should have different movements for different characters. There should be the weak ones who wuss out sometimes and there should be the tough, "hero" type enemies which go after you and don't back down. And AI should call for backup more often. Thisr could make the game into a bloodbath or if you play your cards right, you can get out of each level relatively simply.

PD2 seems to be the perfect online title. And the game deservedly so should be online. It's that simple. But it shouldn't be a big deal if the player plays online or offline. Online isn't as fun when playing with your friends... That was a short topic.

It has been rumored that the new PD will include a multiplayer level creator. And this is a perfect idea. You could make a level on the street, or you can make a level inside. But there has to be more than the low level creator abilities. Give us the freedom to add stairs, create hallways, anything that makes this game as good as it can be. Because if the level editor turns out to be a stinker, well, that would blow....

This is just a few effects that could make this game great (infact greater than great). if you can think of something different or new that would make a cool addition to this game, feel free to post below. That was a long topic, so sorry for the inconveniance. It took a rather long time unfortunately........ MY NIGHT IS RUINED BECAUSE OF THIS POST!

p.s I could not get a picture to show-can you

i thought it was a good post although some of the modes described may not feature in the game. AI is important and a level editor has always gone down well for PC FPS games. Timesplitters 2 has a level editor and i think players can make thier own single player missons which will give it months and months of reply value (if you like making maps that is)
