All the england Newbies (Bowyer, Woodgate (new enough) , Dunn) did well. Sven did subs galore. James looked like a poorly trained chimp in goal. Paul robinson outrageously didn't come on (erikson deserves sacking for that). Alan Smith scored a very good goal which was set up by Bowyer but the rest of the game was pretty bland. Emile Heskey looked as useless as he did before the world cup. Bowyer should have done the full 90. The other good talking point was hargreaves did a good job at right back and maybe he should stay there as we have enough midfielders and Hargreaves looks confident defensively and made darting runs forward. Oh and it was reconfirmed that sinclair really is te only man for the left hand side (we maybe Bridge or Cole might do alright, but not heskey and not one of the other midfielders)

Team lined Up:

James
Cole (bridge)
Mills (hargreaves)
Southgate
Ferdinand (woodgate)
Heskey (moved up front)
Bowyer (murphy)
Butt (sinclair)
Gerrard (dunn)
Smith
Owen (cole)

All the Liverpool, arsenal, leeds and Man utd players who could got subbed of early to please the anagers

Both robinson and sinclair should have started and it is an outrage that robinson didn't get on!

Bowyer must stay as he is the man for midfield goals

yea my top four strikers for england in order would be:

1. Owen
2. Smith
3. Vassell
4. Defoe

if i saw Heskey anywhere near the Stadium i'd quickly have Roy Keane give him a good battering

personally i can't understand how he makes the squad let alone the team. n fact i don't know how he was getting a game at liverpool. Internationally Vassell has caught up with his goals tally in about 5 or 6 games and he hasn't started most of those.

I was very pleased by the displays of Smith and Bowyer they did very well. Dunn did lots of nice flicks and turns that actually helped the attacks and he proved himself to. Any chance he can play on the left? cause if so get rid of that donkey Heskey and put him in the only place he's suited for football - at the turnstile collecting the tickets.
Smith surprised me in that he is actually very strong despite his size. He held the ball up and managed to attack the goal as well. 2 things Heskey can't do. Smith and Owen (did he actually show up for the match itself or did he just introduce the important people to the players then went off for a cup of tea?) are a good partnership for England and i hope Sven keeps them. Plus he kept his temper as well. Smith has definitly got a new fan here.
Once again though it seems the England team got lost on their way to coming out the tunnel for the 2nd half because they were absolutely nowhere. Sven really has to do something about this and tell his players to get their butts in gear instead of just sitting on their own line for 45 minutes hoping the other team isn't going to score. Did they learn nothing from the match against Brazil?

As usual though 1st half brilliant, 2nd very poor. But at least 3 good things came out of this friendly
1. Alan Smith
2. Lee Bowyer
3. How Heskey has been exposed for the useless donkey he is and now we have someone to replace him. If Sven has any managerial sense he'll never pick that donkey again. Smith has scored more goals in 1 full international then Heskey has in about 10
