Did Sega ruin Video Games? Console wise that is.
Think about before the Mega CD. Games console were about one thing the Games. Ii didn't matter if it play CD's. Or scratch the DVD's discs. It was about the games. Did Sega take that away? Yes. Now people don't care about the companies that made video consoles to what they are, all they care about is what consoles can do, and they always want the one, that can do more than just games for them.
When you people had a Snes or a Mega Drive. Did you ever care if it played CD's or DVD's. We all fantasised about it, but look what has happened. Now there corporate pushovers, and it's all thanks to Sega and their appeal. Had Sony never seen their Mega CD. They would of never ever asked Nintendo to join with a Sony connection. Let alone be turned down, and join the industry themselves.
Anyway, does anyone else think this bald move of Sega may of cost the end just Games on the console?

I've never cared about the ability to play music on my consoles. That's what my CD player is for - and quite frankly I get a better quality sound from it.
Sure, if I had a better speaker system on my TV, I would probably prefer to have CDs played through it. But I don't, and so the consoles I have purchased and might in the future wont matter to me if they play music CDs or not.

I must agree with moderation that when I had my Mega drive I really didn't care if it played CD's or whatever but they certainly haven't ruined consoles. When the sega master system and mega drive came out they were the number one thing to have so in a way they were the foundations to the consioles we have now! (Although I was only about 5 when master system came out so I know very little about what was before it :D )
