Younger gamers may not be familar with these titles so here is a breif description to give you an idea of what they were like.
Sam'n'Max Hit the Road (1993):
This was based upon a comic book by Steve Purcell, you may also be familiar with the cartoon T.V series.
In this point and click adventure, you played as Sam a detective dog and his side kick Max a pshycotic Bunny. your job was to find Bigfoot who had escaped from the local carnivals freakshow along with the Giraffe necked lady. This cartoony game was a laugh minute and is an all time Lucasarts classic.
Full Throttle (1995):
This used the same kind of point and click interface. In it you play as Ben, a hard as nails, take no BS from nobody biker. Ben has been set up for the murder of a local motorcycle tycoon, and must prove his innocence as well as take down the man responsible.
This is a little darker than Sam'n'Max but the difficult puzzles had me playing for hours on end.
These games are classic Lucasarts adventures and if you can find them anywhere get them, I'd also reccomend Day of the Tentacle, The Dig, and all Four Monkey Island's. Lucasarts has set a benchmark for taxing (and somtimes infuriating) Adventure games.
I expect the sequels to these games will be upgraded to 3D graphics similar in gameplay to Monkey Island 4 and Grim Fandango.
Full Throttle 2 is expected to be released in 2003 and Sam'n'Max in early 2004. I wonder what other adventure sequels we can expect from Lucasarts? Or how about some original titles?.
