and tonight the splintered light fractured the world,
for it was the end of it all,
for tonight was the end of the end, though not certain,
it was felt
and he knew that he would never return, to this one,
who was him, and he was her, and they were none,
and they danced, pressed, warm, but terrified,
of flames and pain and hatred,
for all and sundry had gone, and now he was leaving,
but the candles still shone, and he would live,
for he loved her, and her him,
and their hands, tight in that unspeakable comfort,
spoke more than words,
words lost in an insane world,
where they lost all meaning,
and they danced, speaking nothing,
crying, lonely in desperation
but together in all else,
for Tonight was tonight,
and he was leaving, the feeling locked but
torn away, and he left,
she behind
they cried,
For tonight was the end of the end, and they were apart,
under the cloud of
Tonight.

Tonight, Tonight is a lovely song, and a good one to listen to to calm down. Grrrr....You saw them live. Don't care if it was only okay, you still saw them!

by the Smashing Pumpkins
hearing it live was one of those moments where all the computers and all the digital technology in the world couldn't have captured the sound. And everyone sang along.
Still it was upstaged by the thunderous Everlasting gaze. Even though Billy Corgan sounds like a nasally-congested pensioner when he sings the "fickle fascination bit".
oh and I liked the poem too :-)
