Well, in my 10 or so years of gaming I've come across some pretty strange things in some games, and some of them, despite not having seemed strange back then definetly seen strange now.

I'll start off with something that was said when I was playing TOCA yesterday evening - I had just successfully completed one of the tournaments on the 2nd Tier Championship, when a man with a Scottish accent called me up to come and race in England. Now not only was the Scottish man telling me to get over to England, but when I actually got to the race I found it it was in Hokkenhiem, which if I'm correct is where the German grand prix is held, so it's hardly going to be in England is it? I was confused by this - possibly the Scottish man telling me to come and race with him in England wasn't so bad, but telling me to get to England before racing in Germany definetly made me go, "Hmmm...".

ISS 98 on the N64 brings back one of the strangest memories for me, but one that was quite amusing all the same. I was playing as Italy at the time in one of the International Cups, and it was snowing. I crossed a ball in from the side and Alessandro Del Piero jumped to flying header the ball, but the ball bounced past him and he went flying through the post. Yes, you heard me, through the post! When he got up, he vibrated a bit, and his whole strip, body and basically his whole appearence turned white and remained white until the end of the game. It was a large gaming glitch and it was really strange too. Short, but oh so sweet!

One of my funniest strange things was when I was playing The Sims a few months ago - I think it was at Christmas, when I sent one of my characters to bed. The character made his way upstairs to the bedroom and climbed into bed, but immedietly sprung out and a speech bubble appeared at his mouth saying "ACTION CANCELLED", before spinning around in circles while standing with his legs going through the bed. It was certainly the funniest thing I've seen in gaming and I laughed my head off at the time, but when I think about it now it's most definetly a thought that makes me think, "Hmmm...".

My last strange memory occured when I was playing Mario Kart 64, and it's probably one that many of you have had problems with, but probably not in the same way as me. It's about the computers being able to catch up with you magically and break away so easily when it's impossible for you to do the same, and I'm sure you've all complained about this a fair bit: well, it's happened to me as well, but in a rather strange way. Bowser was in 8th place on Peach's Castle, and at the section where you could jump across if you had been provided with enough speed, 3 boosts and a little bit of luck, Bowser luckily had these 3 'items' and used them to get across, but strangely, he did it every lap, and had lapped the rest of the field, but when he completed his 3rd lap, he was shunted back into 8th again and had to complete 3 laps again. This was very confusing, but I found it funny as I then went on to win the race, AND the tournament, beating Bowser at the end - who knows what would have happened if he hadn't been shunted into 8th? As I sat feeling happy I then wondered what went wrong with MK64 and I murmered to myself, "Hmmm...".

Have you had any gaming experiences that made you say, "Hmmm..." and if so, what are they?

AJ.

On timesplitters, if you put no weapons on (you start with a pistol for some reason) then the bots don't have any weapons and they don't do anything. this is a good way of getting a high accuracy

I did read this post literally minutes after you posted it, Afro, but couldn't think of any particularly memorably odd occasions that at happened to me, so I didn't bother to reply.

However, playing Mafia today, I was doing 50mph in the city when you're only meant to be doing 40. A copper notices this and decides to go after me (the sod). So, as I'm in no particular hurry, I pull over and we both get out of our respective vehicles. He walks up to me, we chat, I pay the fine and then go to get in my car. The copper happens to be standing in the way of my door a bit, but I think to myself 'Nah, it'll be OK...the collision engine isn't that good' and so proceed to open the door. As I do so, the copper is pushed back by the door opening (but doesn't fall over) and so the game immediately sets it to 'gun' mode, which is a last resort for police to catch criminals! Moments later, I have about 4 squad cars on my tail and it takes the best part of 30minutes to shake them off! All for opening a door infront of a copper. Hmmm... :)

I was running around on one of the rocks around Portland on GTA3 when I jumped and found myself inside one of the rocks. It was impossible to get out so after running around like a stupid person I had to reset.
Stupid bugs :P

lol, Brilliant post, I laughed at all the moments. Best was the Sim's one.

Your gaming incidents are way better then mine; Still, I want to hear other peoples incidents - confusion is always funny.

Yes, I've decided to actually start writing stuff that hopefully is interesting for everyone else because I've sort of forgotten how to be funny on SR. :-( And I need to practise my 'Intelligent English' for my last year at school. :-) I still rock on MSN at being funny though!

Hmmmm, let me think....

In Goldeneye, on the dam level, there was a guy who I kept on shooting by the railing and a glitch occured where he appeared to fall off and jump back on again. Also on Goldeneye, I've had a glitch on the train level where I somehow got stuck on the trapdoor at the end and was blown up, but was underneath the explosions.

As for the last one, I was doing it on the hardest mode for the first time, and I'll admit that 'hmmm' was the last word on my mind... :)
