I don't want to pay £20+ for Norton subscriptions so I was wondering if there are any good free antivirus packages that I could get...

I've got Avast32 antivirus now and it's free, but I don't know if it's any good and it keeps messing up Outlook Express when I send attachments.

Any good ones to get?

Should I uninstall this?

Yep, the only thing I would say is that they don't update their database as often as say Norton which could end up being a problem. Apart from that it's free and personally I think much better than Norton.

We use Norton at work but I can see us ditching that to move to AVG within the next year when our licence runs out.

I've just deleted that PikeyVIrus protector, it kinda didn't let me send email attachments!

I just paid £14.91 for Norton renewal!

I found a little program that I thought was spyware and had been cleaned by AdAware, it was in the quarantine.

Norton's been good to me, never had a virus in my PC since it's been installed, very nice.

Yeah, goto www.grisoft.com and download their free home product, you have to register but it's free.

It integrates with Outlook Express very well, will check all incoming and outgoing messages, it will even stop your computer when you hit a dodgy website advising that there maybe a potential virus on the webpage you are just about to visit.

It's not as memory hungry as Norton either, Norton seems to hog an inordinate amount of memory for what it is.

Plus AVG is alot smaller download, about 6 mb in size compared to approx 30 - 40 mb of Norton.

Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose.
