Yes, you heard me right! Pikmin are driving people of the Mushroom Kingdom wild, and not just in their innovative game this time.
Anchovies? Salami?? Peperami???
It's out with the old and in with the new as these colourfull little onion-like creatures are bringing in the big-bucks for the Mario brothers after they gave-up on Plumming and ventured on into a new area for success.
Incase you don't already know, there are 3 different colours of Pikmin.
This has opened-up a world of variations available to the Mario brothers and their customers.
The red ones, well-known for being fire-resistant, add that spicey touch to the sauce 'n' dough - chilli pepper-style.
Yellow Pikmin will also liven' up your mouth with their hot and strong mustardy-radish flavouring. Order a Mario's Pizza with both Red and Yellow Pikmin toppings and that'll certainly be 'one-a-spicey meat-a-ball' (or pizza)!
Blue Pikmin will cool things down to a much nicer level for the younger Mario fans. Not even Mario himself can describe their taste, he says it is simply "original" and that you'll have to "try it to see for yourself".
Here's what we saw from the unvailing of this new creation at Mario's:
"I am-a-pleased to announ-ce that an all-a-new-a Pizza will now-a be available from Mario's with-a Pik-a-min-a toppings.
*CHOMP CHOMP* I call it the-ah... 'Pik-a-min Pizza! *CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP*'"
Heh, seems Mario had more on his mind than a big unveiling speech! That's-a-Mario for you. But while Luigi hid-away in the corner as the 'quiet guy' this has shown us all that a 'Pikmin Pizza' is simply irresistable!
But after a good pizza or two (and a bowl of pasta) we did manage to get a few answers from Mazza the man.
Q. Where do you get all the Pikmin from for the toppings?
Mario: "Well-a, that is-a where my good-a friend Mr.Miyamoto comes-in to play, once-again. Shigeru's Garden seems to be the only place where-a Pik-a-min can-a be found to live and-ah grow. So, with a few-ah G's going-around-a here and there, we come to an agree-ment. Without-a his-ah help, this-a wouldn't be-a possibolo."
Luigi: "'EEEEEEY-A!! What about-a me-ah, Mario?? You're-a own-a flesh and-a blood."
Mario: "Aaaaaah, shutup-a ya-face, skii-nnyy boy!!"
Q. How do you prepare the Pikmin before you add them to the pizza?
Mario: "AH! But that is my-a secret to the Pik-a-min Pizza's super taste! Would I-ah ever tell you my Bowser-bashing tips? No. It ees-ah secret, keh?"
Q. Have you considered using Pikmin to top any other dishes available?
Mario: "Well-ah, I have-a been considering putting Pikmin into my-a pasta too. I love-a pasta. I love-a Pikmin. So why not-a put the 2 together, eh??
*SLUUUURP!* "'ey now, that's-a goood-a pasta!
Here'a, now you a-try some...."
I also managed to catch-up with a few of the first locals to try the Pikmin Pizza:
Goombaria: "I love it! The Blue Pikmin are my favourite. I find the Red and Yellow ones make it too hot alone though."
Koopa the Quick: "WOW! With Red Pikmin topping alone I get this great burst of energy inside me, making me feel I can beat my best time!
YAHOOOOOO!!"
Toad: "Hopefully, this'll signify the end of Mushroom Toppings!"
So there you have it.
Not only is Pikmin a success for its originallity as a game, but it could become the no.1 topping for pizza's in the not too-distant future.
But once again, a little of the 'Miyamoto Influence' is required in order to make Mario a success once again. Is there anything those little Pikmin CAN'T do????
Look out for a Pikmin Pizza TV Avert in the future too. Apparently, it's already in the works - with Mario and Bowser once again going head-to-head!
;)
