The Bond series is huge. No doubt about it. There have been countless Bond movies, a number of video games (there were even some Bond games before GoldenEye), and even the 'James Bond Jr.' cartoon series. But is this really the kind of role model our children should be looking up to? A man who will undoubtedly sleep with multiple women within the space of one film, who drives recklessly, who shoots first and asks questions later, gambles, and drinks. Is this a good role model?
The Bond franchise is sexist with Bond constantly taking advantage of women, and is also racist, casting black people almost exclusively as the 'bad guys', and very rarely having a black person as an ally.
In light of these revelations, Pierce Brosnan has been dropped as James Bond. The next James Bond will be a black, gay, disabled male (the actor/actress is yet to be confirmed though the director was quick to stress he would not be discriminating on sex, race, or acting ability). Instead of using women as play things, this new Bond will ‘pump’ the male goons for information, though he will require some help out of his wheelchair first. He will be black to show the cultural diversity of MI5 and as Bond is such a popular franchise, making him gay will surely lessen homophobia in the younger generations. Bond’s previous track record as a womaniser will be explained as his true feelings being repressed by society, so Mr. Bond was in denial about his true sexuality. The nature of Bonds disability is yet to be confirmed, but inside sources suggest it includes the loss of the use of his legs in the line of duty. Again, the disability shows MI5 not discharging Bond from the agency, showing an equal opportunities policy towards disabilities for field agents.
The change in skin colour will not be explained, as it is deemed that Mr. Bond has undergone many physical appearance changes over the course of the movies which have not been explained, so they needn’t explain this one either. Unconfirmed rumours have also been circulating about a new rotor system for future Bonds whereby each new bond is from a different race such as Asian or African. White males are rumoured to not be in the rotor as there have already been substantial numbers of white Bonds.
