In the light of continued Hardware advancement, eg Pentium 4`s etc...do programmers push our PCs enough???
Thats the question, so discuss???
I dont think PCs get pushed hard enough frankly, just look at the Quality games that get released on the Consoles.. Even though the Consoles have a Fraction of the Power of most PCs the Games are amazing. Thats not to say that great games dont come out on the PC, but you need a more powerful PC to play that Game. Can you imagine the Hardware Spec of a PC you`ld need to get Soul Caliber running with the quality of a Dreamcast.
So are Programmers Lazy when it comes to the PC, or are we spoilt for choice with the quality console games that push our consoles to the limit???

Point Taken, but dont you think that Programmers sometimes look for hardware solutions to their software problems. Its should not always be necessary to have to have the latest Pentium 4 and expensive new Graphics card in your PC to play a Game which would with a bit of clever Programming run on a Pentium 3 machine with last years Graphics card???
I disagree- developers are not lazy! The reason for PC's not being pushed to their limits is that there are almost infinite combinations of chips and processors. When a devloper makes a game it has to work on all these different combinations, and cannot therefore be made to push a processor in case another processor type cannot handle it. Consoles are different in that if a game runs on one Dreamcast, it will work on every single dreamcast in the world... and hence the console's specs can be used to the max. 'Tis the bane of PC gamers!
