Adidas have brought out a new line of trainers.
I was walking through Kingston today buying my gf a present for ehr b'day and someone handed me a piece of paper. Usually I threw them away but today I wondered what I'd been missing.
Apparently, Adidas' new shoes are made from Kangaroo skin. This means they go out into the outback, herd some Kangaroos up then shhot them all.
Big deal, I ususally just ignore these things.
Then I saw two things that sickened me.
- A picture of a baby Kangaroo. It's mother had just been shot and it looked frigtened, confused and upset.
- I read that they also kill the youbger Kangaroos.
They walk up to them, tie them down and then beat them/stamp on them till they die.
These are both very disturbing things.

This is probably the first post that im being sensible, melodramatic and sympathetic
Sorry.
Seriously:
The treatment may be pretty horrific, it wouldn't exactly be a first for a sports clothing company, but i doubt it's that much worse than food production methods.
That said, the resurgence of free range eggs and the like in reaction to battery farming shows that some of us can appease ourselves by curbing the cruelty to animals while we use them for our own ends.
But as things stand (admittedly i'm no expert), i think it's tough to criticise this without being a vegetarian or hypocrit.
