"the pre-ordering system is a farce!"

I pre-ordered my playstaion 2 in June through, electronics boutigue and so far i have not received confirmation of the dispatch date, as anyone else experienced this trouble.

I, of all people, should totally agree with you, but i don't. I wouldn't say that it has been a farce, just not organised well. A lot of retailers (including the one where i pre-ordered) just didn't know how to work it. They didn't realise how important it was to get the paperwork off to Sony as promptly as possible, so waited until all their pre-order forms were filled before sending their copies off to Sony's holding company for processing.

Unfortunately though, i thnk that the previous post was probably right. Lots of companies started taking pre-orders as far back as Febuary, but all they were doing was pre-ordering one of the official forms. If you haven't got a form filled out, i would get in touch with the PS2 PRE-ORDER ENQUIRY LINE on 08702 414563, to see if you are on their system, or get in touch with the retailer direct.

ummm.... I don't think you did.

I too 'reserved' at EB in June , but in fact all that they reserved was an official pre-order form.
I had to go back in on the 7th September , fill in the Sony form and then wait... This was what got the famous letter.

Sounds like all you did was pre-order your pre-order form , but never actually got it. Bummer. Rumour has it the first free-stock is March 2001......
