Every single track is perfect, one or two are less than 150% but in an album of 16 tracks, if I only skip 2 then that's a winner.
Best ones: By The Way, Tear, Cabron, This is The Place, Venice Queen.
If you're not sure if you'd like them, download Venice Queen and Tear and I promise you'll buy it tomorrow.
It's an album full of tracks that remind me of my favs from others. "Soul To Squeeze" and "Scar Tissue" were my top Chilli tracks, but this album eclipses it.
Melodies to make you want to play guitar, backing vocals that wouldn't be out of place on a Beach Boys album, amazing, beautiful guitar playing by John Fruiscante. Just the whole thing adds up to one of fav albums ever, and certainly my best for 2002 so far.
And seeing as I'm rating it above "Pure Rock Fury" by Clutch means it's pretty goddamn special.
By FAR their best album yet.
Dosed (gotta love that John Fruciante harmony on the chorus)
the Zephyr Song (again John F coming up with the Beach Boys harmonies...)
and Midnight (Chilis dont use string often but this rocks)
also diggin Dont Forget Me even if its just for the lines
'I'm an inbread
and a pot head
two legs that you spread inside your tool shed'
Lyrical genius.
I dug out a Dave Navarro era Chilis album yesterday but couldn't even face putting it on the cd player..
Should arrive soon
I never used to like them... downloaded some... damn good.
