ok, so the LH navigation needs a lot of work as it's too long, i'm thinking about using DHTML navigation so it ends up looking like the Windows Start Menu.
This is also the first thing i've made in Dreamweaver MX, i'm very pleased with it.
also, thankyou Tyla for telling me about the cellspacing idea for the navigation, tried it and it works great (as if you didn't know ;)
I used those buttons (again) because I think they'd be faster loading than a PNG button (made in PHP) which i'd like to have used, and looks better than a load of links down the side (but this site is in it's early stages)
another point: theres only one page up at the moment so the links won't work :)
It does 'work' in Netscape but the black border (seen in MS IE) needs work.
before I forget, obviously i'm no good at most of the stuff on this site, but I won't be making everything for it, it's just a big gathering area for relevant information, just giving the basics (not everything)
It's also just a way for me to learn about websites with lots of pages, i'm not intending it to go anywhere although it would be nice.
now, with all that in mind, please have a look and pick any points, i'd be very grateful for any critism.
> Also needs a CSS makeover.
forgot to reply to this, I don't want to go overboard with CSS on this site as i've already added too much really, in Netscape the black border around some of the tables lightens up whereas IE supports it, not sure how i'm going to get around that other than forcing people to use IE :)
I will welcome 'your' code with open arms, although as I said, i'm not working on the site right now as my hdd is far away being hacked to pieces along with Photoshop *cries*
Backup your files kids.
Also, can chat about getting some content for you
No the site is personnal, i'm only making it so I cna learn ways of making big websites with less work :) and more complex form functions.
I'm definatly going to change the navigation as it needs a lot of writing to fill the main box and it took a lot of re-arranging to get it as small as it is now.
anyway, i've finally been given my PC back but its going back soon no doubt, anyway i've only got Notepad and Paint so I can't really do much to the site.
I would have to echo the previous comments. The menu down the left is very long. Displaying the main headings and using click to expand them to show the subtopics would improve it.
Also needs a CSS makeover.
Are you looking for writers? Give me a shout, if so.
Also I said earlier on that I want some pop-up/drop-down menus for the site as it gives it more umpf but I can't find a decent script :) the one on that ite is what i'm looking for though, cheers for the help.
Also(2) I like long website but I like them even more if they're skinny, long skinny websites make me happy and this is my first one, the navigation really is too long though.
I'd be happy for some tutorials for the PHP page, more the merrier I always say.
Cheers for the input.
Also will be glad to provide some PHP tutorials when the site it up and running (I've written a few useful functions), and a listing on www.tenuouslinks.co.uk is assured.
Nice site. Visually it's a bit special. I do however agree that it's a bit it long. Perhaps you could use pop up navigation. This would work better as there's confusion between headings and links.
For an example of what I mean see my mates site at

Personally I like shorter pages, and try to put the more important stuff at the top. They call it "designing above the fold". I think squashing up the navigation would give you more above the fold.
Hope you don't feel I'm teaching granny to suck hard-boileds
please help me.
Hot weather and a fridge full of beers, what more could you ask for?!
You could have asked for the holiday to be free ;)
good to hear you had a good time anyway.
