Anyone who has seen the new Tomb Raider will be aware that Lara has had a major character change. She has become a more evil person treading in the more sinister circles in life.
But, what if all our favourite characters had a similar personality/gameplay change...?
MARIO
Mario stars in a a fast paced action gangster game. He has a BMW to drive in and can walk around the vast city in a mix of The Getaway and GTA. He has access to a whole range of weapons including Uzi's, Shotguns and even a rocket launcher. Sunshine rarely features in this new game, it is mainly gloomy skies and dark buildings. He can still jump, but not so high. The plot revolves around young Mario Mozzatoni who is trying to make a name for himself in the mafia. It guest stars Luigi as the mafia boss, Princess Peach as a hooker and Bowser as a rival gang boss. Mario is dressed in a black pinstripe suit. He wears a hat, and has shaved his moustache.

Link stars in a fun and addictive sports game where the aim is to knock a ball around a pitch into 1 goal. You must use your shield to knock the ball around. It is played on ice, so it is even more slippery. The teams consist of 2 players, and all play out on pitch trying to get the ball into the 1 goal. It is fast and challenging. It also stars Zelda and a whole lot of other characters from the Zelda series. Link looks the same as usual.
SOLID SNAKE
Snake stars in a fast go-karting game. he action takes place in & around the Tanker and Big Shell. You can play as Snake, Emma, Otacon, Solidus, Liquid, Ocelot, Vamp, Fortune, Olga, Raiden, A mini-Ray and even Emma's parrot. All the settings and characters are shrunk down and look more cartoony. There are weapons based on each character in the game. Each one has there own special attack.

JAK & DAXTER
Jak & Daxter take up football in this crazy and addictive arcade game. There are teams of 5, and the team you control has Jak, Daxter, Keira, Samus and a mysterious juggling monkey named Herbert. The opposition include teams of Lurchers, Sharks, and finally Gol & Acheron in there own team. There is only two of them but they are so good it doesn't matter. The game resembles Ape escape 2's football mini-games.
SSX TRICKY CAST
The SSX-ers star in this mad rowing game. Racing around fast rivers and over waterfalls performing tricks by... waving the oar about! All the cast are there, and it is another fast sports simulation from EA Big.
ICO
Ico stars in a fast arcade shoot em up. He wanders around the locales of the original, which are now packed with sold ghouls. Armed with 2 shotgun-flamethrowers, you must run around tackling the hordes of ghouls. Yorda makes an appearance after you beat the game.
Well, these are all the ones I've come up with. Care to add any to the list?
(Sorry about the mainly PS2 line-up, I'm not a big follower of GC and I don't have an Xbox)

Max Payne in a cutesy flower-collecting platformer.
I can just see him roaming through bright green hills under a perfect blue sky clothed saying stuff like:
"The day was like an inferno. The golden sun burned my eyes, and the grass beneath my feet felt like a bed of green nails. And then out of the corner of my blood-shot eyes I saw it swaying alone like a demonic Barbie.... a pink rose. I grasped its thorny stem and took a deep breath - my nostrils were filled with the perfume of angels."
Or something like that.
