I thought I'd start a new thread designed for microstories - epic tales that have to be told in miniscule word limits. We did a bit of this in our final year of English in high school, and it resulted in some cool things. That said, our English teacher was a total nutjob who left to start a vineyard. Oh well... anyway, here are the rules:

Word Cap

Each story should be exactly 50 words, though a +/- cap of 3 words is allowable (if not in the real spirit of things).

Completeness

Each story should ideally be a tale in its entirety, rather than an excerpt from a larger story.

Perspective, Genre, Tone...

That's all up to you fine people.

And that's basically it! I've done one in an atrocious attempt at mimicking typical Glaswegian banter, though I'm fairly sure any proper Weejy would crucify me if they read it. Anyways...

Forty five felt much too slow,
To reach the place I had to go,
But sixty five might do the trick-
Yes sixty-five! I think that's it.

Pity then, as I sped up,
A turn of chance; a break of luck,
And as I broke the legal limit,
A squirrel ate my face.

It's 30 for a reason.

I might give it a go tonight, if nothing else occurs.

No copy of Word? OpenOffice perhaps, or Google Docs?

Or the magic counting ability of 10 HANDS!!

Or not.

The failing in this is having to count up to 50, to which I say I am very lazy and quite unprepared to do!

I suppose Word would help here, but I don't have it on this laptop sorry.
