So, what will the future of the PC be??? Will it be overcome by games consoles??? Will it overpower the games consoles??? Let's have a look at the points you need to look at.
Good Points:
PCs can do LOTS more than games consoles. At the moment anyway. As well as games, you can connect to the Internet, use programs like Word, Excel, Publisher to do your work, homework etc, you can get DVD, CD rewriter and stuff like that which consoles don't have at the moment.
Also, you can now get 256mb of ram on a PC, as well as 128. Where as on a PS2 or a Gamecube you will have 128 and only 128.
So there are lots of things a PC can do that games consoles can't.
BUT...
Bad Points: On a PC you have to install games, and if your PC isn't very powerful you won't get many games on there and they won't work very well, where as on a console the games will always work just by putting the CD in and pressing "power". You can also get a larger selection of better games on a console, so if you're looking for games, get a console.
Also, soon consoles like the PS2 and Gamecube will DVD and Internet connection. So you won't need a PC for things. So soon enough the consoles will catch up with PC, and the PC will have no where to go, but not for a long time yet.

So overall, if you want something you can play games on, work on and do absolutely loads on, get a PC. If you want to play games, games and more games, then get a console. I think the consoles will catch up, but not for a long while, so the PCs future is bright. The PCs future is...red (my favourite colour). {:)

Thanks for reading, Ant.

Microsoft are losing their patience with the PC market, that's why they are making the X-Box.
Even though they are releasing some games, that stay in the top ten charts for a long period they still lose alot of money.
