please anyone who can help....i had to re-install my sims on holiday cd and when it comes to run the game it asks for the correct cd ...i downloaded a patch into the maxi's sims folder ....what do i have to do to run this and get the game working?????
REALLY appreciate any help..........

well if you have bought a copy of the game you are allowed to download no cd patches. Don't be a pikey git if you haven't bought it. Otherwise try www.Megagames.com they have loads of them.

I often download "no CD" patches because I'm sick of finding CDs and putting them in, then finding the case for the one that you just took out etc etc. Trouble is, patches (to upgrade the game) often don't work since they think you've pirated the game, and I don't always have backups of the exe files. Grr

I doubt that will work as the copied CD will have a different CD key to your game.
Be warned too, if it isn't an official patch then it could be something else and not a helpful patch (Virus perhaps)

Uninstal it all and try again. If that dosn't work then you could always try writting to the publisher (EA I think do the sims) and tell them you lost one of the disks and you never knwo they might send you one for free.

thanks for replying....i lost my vacation cd so a friend lent me their "copied" cd to install....then they told me I could get a no cd patch to play it....but I am a complete novice to it all and unfortunately have spent 2 hours trying to solve it.....I suppose we all have to start somewhere...lol

Why did you download the patch? Did the CD not work before? Is it a proper copy of the game? Has the problem only started after you instaled patch?
