No.1 Contenders match for the European Title
William Regal (Grandprix) Vs Eddie Guerrero (Cong Man)
Written by Lawless Fever

Howard Finkle: The following contest, scheduled for one fall, is a number one contenders match for the Special Reserve Wrestling European Championship! Introducing first, from El Paso, Texas, Eddie Guerrero!!!

[As Eddie Guerrero slowly slides ‘Latino Heat’ off of his tongue, a chorus of boos erupt from the audience as he appears on the rampway. He makes various hand gestures at the audience as he slowly walks down the aisle. Some pieces of rubbish are thrown at him. He takes note of who did this, walks over to them and begins talking gratuitous trash in their face. Guerrero gives them the middle finger and continues walking on to the ring.]

Jerry Lawler: I think that means he’s number one, JR, no pun intended. Well, actually…

Jim Ross: This match should be a great contest between to well-oiled machines, in Guerrero and Regal. Both of these men have had to deal with very similar, if not identical issues, and that may be their only common ground. We have eight matches signed for Eclipse tonight, 5 titles will be decided and this will hopefully set us up for a match next week on Eclipse against the European Champion. Eddie Guerrero, a young man from El Paso, Texas, possibly the soon-to-be reigning European Champion, certainly knows that this will not be easy against the ex-commissioner of this federation…

JL: JR?

JR: Yes?

JL: Shut up…

Howard Finkle: His opponent, from Blackpool, England, weighing in at 240lbs, William Regal!

[The edited ‘Evil Commissioner’ theme hits and instantly, the crowd boo. Regal waves to the audience as he walks down, totally ignoring the boos from the audience.]

JR: William Regal has been the European Champion before and this title has really eluded Regal throughout his career. It’ll be a tough one to call either way.

[Regal steps into the ring and the bell rings.]

[The two competitors nervously circle the ring, whilst the crowd stay silent. They are about to go into a collar-and-elbow tie-up, when Regal kicks Guerrero to the gut and punches away at his head. Regal then swings him to the buckle, but on the rebound, Guerrero gets an adrenaline rush and floors Regal with a Clothesline. Regal gets back up, trying to shift the momentarily lost momentum, but Guerrero keeps on at Regal, chopping him to the chest and swinging him. However, Regal’s will is too strong and he manages to reverse this. To Regal’s downfall, Guerrero is quick enough to black Regal with a Flying Forearm before Regal can capitalise on the situation. Guerrero keeps at his relentless assault, once again punching away at Regal whilst he is downed on the mat.]

[Jericho’s flurry of punches doesn’t keep Regal out for long, though, and he is soon back on his feet. Guerrero, the opportunist he is, continues punching Regal as he tries to walk away from the situation. Regal’s pent up frustration from the tide of the match gets the better of him, and to his advantage, as he manages to turn the tide and duck under Guerrero’s swing to the ropes. However, Guerrero waits for him, and before Regal can take advantage, Guerrero nails him with a flying kick to the head. Regal rolls to the outside for a short respite, which is broadened even further as Guerrero dives over the ropes and lands on Regal in a Plancha-like manoeuvre. Both men are down on the hard floor as the excited crowd chant for them to get up. Guerrero chops Regal to the chest, scoops him up and dumps him neck-first onto the crowd railing.]

[Guerrero rolls Regal back into the ring, as the referee stops his count. Before an exasperated Regal can fully recover, Guerrero is up on the turnbuckle. When Regal turns around to see this, Guerrero blasts him out of his boots with a Flying Elbow. Guerrero hooks the leg in a pinning predicament.]

[…Regal kicks out just in time.]

[Regal is swung into the ropes, his chest very red, but rebounds off the ropes and grabs Guerrero’s legs. However, Guerrero lands on top of Regal, but Regal manages to fling him backwards into a pinfall, which doesn’t last long, as Guerrero goes to apply a Boston Crab out of it. However, Regal punches him to the head, grabbing Guerrero’s short, black hair as he does so and then kicks him with such a force that he goes into the corner. Regal walks over to Guerrero, but Guerrero kicks him to the gut, and Regal does the same when Guerrero approaches him. Regal grabs Guerrero hard by his tights and rams him into the steel ring post, possibly severely injuring the shoulder of Guerrero. With a look of distain upon his face, Regal pulls Guerrero out of the wreck, only to repeat the move. Regal waves to the audience, taking in with sick delight all the boos they throw at him. Regal continues his assault, grabbing Guerrero by the wrist and throwing him over his head in an impressive manoeuvre. Guerrero grips the back of his head and Regal takes note of this, stomping him on the aforementioned area. Regal takes Guerrero down with an impressive takedown, using only a hand.]

[…2…]

[…Guerrero narrowly kicks out.]

[Regal continues the beat down on Guerrero, a surprising feat after the early first minutes of the match, which his opponent dominated. Regal gets Guerrero in a wristlock and then puts Guerrero in a submission manoeuvre. A tired Guerrero tries to escape with a right hand to Regal and does so. He then swings Regal, but receives a kick to the face. When Regal runs at him however, Guerrero floors him with a harsh elbow. Guerrero goes outside onto the apron and goes for his special flipping move, but Regal gets his knees up, causing Guerrero to momentarily grip his ribs. It doesn’t last long, however, and Regal rolls Guerrero up into a surprised pinfall.]

[…1…]

[…2…]

[…Guerrero kicks out with all his might.]

[Regal keeps on at Guerrero, nailing him with an amazing Overhead German Suplex. He goes for another pin.]

[…1…]

[…2…]

[Frustration obviously gets the better of him as the referee informs of his the two count, because he walks over to a turnbuckle and begins undoing the turnbuckle pad, exposing the cold, hard steel. Regal rams Guerrero’s face into the steel, almost knocking him unconscious. Regal does it again, making it hard for Guerrero to breathe this time. Regal kicks him to the head numerous times, but Guerrero manages to block one of them and blast Regal to the head with an Enziguri. Just as Regal recovers, he is knocked back down with a Dropkick. Both men are down as the referee begins the count out. It isn’t long before Guerrero is back up on his feet. Regal is knocked down with a hard right hand and a strong Dropkick. Guerrero goes for the pin.]

[…1…]

[…2…]

[…Regal firmly kicks out.]

[Guerrero dives at Regal, but Regal moves and Guerrero avalanches onto the turnbuckle, evidently hurting his rib area further, also barely avoiding his head smashing onto the turnbuckle pad. The southpaw, Regal, punches away at Guerrero, who is still sat on the turnbuckle. Regal climbs up to the turnbuckle and throws Guerrero off with a Double Underhook Suplex, downing not only Guerrero, but Regal himself also. Regal makes the pinfall.]

[…1…]

[…2…]

[…Guerrero makes a close kickout.]

[Guerrero goes to apply the Boston Crab again on Regal, but Regal escapes, trips Guerrero and applies the Regal Stretch. After the best part of a minute, Guerrero reaches the ropes, to the deep distain and hatred of Regal. Regal knees Guerrero to the head, but Guerrero fights back with chops to Regal’s chest. Regal swings Guerrero and when he comes off the ropes, kicks him hard to the chest. Guerrero fights back against the exhausted Regal by ramming his head into a turnbuckle and blasting him with a Bulldog on the rebound. Guerrero follows up with a textbook Suplex, climbs the top turnbuckle and nails Regal with the Frog Splash. He goes for the pinfall.]

JR: What a gut-check for Eddie Guerrero! He showed great resiliency and toughness.

JL: Well, if you miss it with one move, he always has the Frog Splash and that is why Guerrero will be fighting for the European Championship the next time we see him.

JR: Congratulations to Guerrero!

Good match Shaun!

If you want to see what Ant meant about the exclamation marks and all that stuff then look at my match. I use it a fair bit. :-)

Well done Eddie Guerrero (Cong Man).

Excellent singles action, the overall wrestling was entertaining and the commentary added a little comedy to the match.

Just a couple of things I reckon would...well not improve it, but from personal experience I like to include exclamation marks during the actual wrestling, and sometimes capital letters and sound effects for big moves. You've sort of added another element to the match (commentary) which makes up for it, so it's up to you really. I'll shut up now. {:)

One more thing, and this to everyone, could you include the SR usernames in brackets at least every couple of paragraphs? Don't get like me though, I'm obsessed with the damn things and include them almost every time I write a wrestler's name.

Congrats to Cong Man as Eddie Guerrero, who will be challenging for the title at the next PPV...whenever that is, and whoever it's written by...
