I want to be able to send email "from" my freeola hosted domain when moving around.

Is it possible to use the freoola SMTP relay when connected via another ISP?

If so do I need to enable some authentication options?

( I was surprised to find that tiscali will relay email with "from/reply to" set to my freoola hosted domain so this is a partial workaround - but messy and kind of perverse. )

There isn't really much more information to give I'm afraid. As well as webmail access you are also allowed to send email via out SMTP server. This means you use SMTP Authentication to connect to our server and then send email so that it comes from your address. You can do this from any internet connection once the service is activated. Login to you MyFreeola account and see here and here for more information and some typical setup instructions.

Sounds what I need. However this feature (authenticated SMTP relay) is not advertised on the "/freedom" page. It says only that "for when you're ... out of the office ... there's a handy webmail function".

Is there a more detailed specification for this service somewhere else? - Just to be clear before I click "sign up"!

To do what you require you will need to sign up to our Email Freedom service, which you can do via your MyFreeola account. This allows you to send email from any connection using SMTP Authentication at a cost of £2 + VAT a month, paid quarterly.
