Could there be any possibillity that Roy Keane may be on his way out of Old Trafford and onto Italy, Spain or maybe even Celtic due to what has been said??
It seems highly-unlikely at this point in time - right before the start of a new season - that Sir Alex Ferguson would even consider selling his no.1 Captain, not even for all the money in the world. He has recently risen to Keane's defence as his manager and decided to stand-by what has been said.
But he didn't do the same to Stam, and after days of his book's public release he was gone! Coincidentally, it was also at a similar time of the year to where we are right now...
But Managers can change their minds... just like how Fergie decides that the 4-5-1 doesn't work, but then decides that it WILL work against some Hungarian team when United actually end-up as the losers!
So one day in the near future he could decide that what Keane has said is wrong and that he cannot figure as part of the United team any longer - just like Stam.
Fergie may have a big say in what Keane does or where he goes when it comes to football - as his boss, but even the biggest of bosses have their own people who tell them what to do.
What about Peter Kenyon and Martin Edwards??
They may not like what they read about Keane's intentions to go for Alfie Haaland, and as proffesional business men, they may decide that this is one kind of player they feel does not deserve to be playing at such a high-profile club - especially while he's on that kind of money!
Edwards could then call a meeting with Ferguson, and despite how hard he protests, Fergie would be forced to place Keane on the Transfer List and await the first real bid to come-in for him - or possibly risk loosing the job he's had and loved for the past decade or so.
He may be a bad person off the pitch, but despite what he's done and said to a large number of people off it during the last 12 months alone, you simply cannot put-him-down for what he can do for a team ON it!
Every since he left Nottingham Forest for Old Trafford back in the early 90's when the Premiership had only just kicked-off, he's proved that he really has been worth the few-millions United payed for him - all that and a whole lot more!
It's not just because of his superb leadership skills he's shown since taking the armband from Steve Bruce and Cantona, a lot of it's about his high work rate and that driving determination he has to win and do nothing but win in each and every game he plays in - no matter how big, or how small. Back when we first one The Double (long before Arsenal's first) he was there making every tackle, and every pass count, with his tireless efforts - like a hunting dog with a hare in it's sights. To be honest, I don't think we could've accomplished such a feat without him!
The same applies to our second Double Year, and of course, the 'Historic' Treble Season back in '99.
Ok, so he didn't play in every single game, and did miss-out on a few of 'the biggies', but when he was there alongside Scholes, Giggs and Beckham, it was like there were 8 men in the middle rather than just 4. Even the biggest and toughest of attackers began to go dumb and pale at the site of this 'Demon Terrier' closing in on them to win the ball!
Roy Keane is a great player for the youngsters to look upto, but he's not one person you'd want to cross on a bad day - as i'm sure some of his team-mates will know! Untill he was sent-home from Ireland's World Cup preparations, he was doing the job for them too - and he played a huge part in getting them into the Finals, helping them to cope against the likes of Holland and Portugal in the Qualifiers.
If there's anything you can say about his career that'll bring-on the bad looks and remarks, then it has to be for his discipline levels, aswell as the off-the-pitch antics I mentioned earlier - including the Mick McCarthy bust-up.
He may have caused a lot of damage to the Republic of Ireland's team in the past, but Mick McCarthy must be taken into consideration for a place in a Nut House if he won't think twice about what Keano has to offer them ON the pitch! And the same applies to Alex Ferguson. If he wants to see some Silverware being toured around Manchester on an open-top bus next summer, then keeping Roy Keane happy is what he'll have to do - no matter what lengths he may be required to go to!
Keane has already sent-out a warning that he may consider leaving the Theater of Dreams, as United fans, let us hope that he doesn't decide to go along with this for the sake of our success this season alone!
Should he stay or should he go?? Easy - STAY!
Ferguson is a good manager, even if he has treated player like Lee Sharpe and Schmeichel like $hit.
I was surprised to see him get given a new contract last season, seeing as how he was already on £52,000 a week.
I've been wondering for a long-time if all this money and success is getting to his head or something??
Keane is a legend.
I doubt he is going anywhere anyways. Fergie is just about the only person Keane doesnt say anything bad about...I would love to see Keane as the Man Utd manager in the near future. Keane is the mirror image of Fergie in many aspects...
Keane said he wanted to pack in football completely at the end of last season but Fergie changed his mind. Just like fergie did with Cantona after the selhurst park incident.
