What is it with some people? They come on here, they start topics, and they say 'such and such a console is better because it's got better graphics!' or 'this console is better than that because it's got such and such a game'. Can I just say:- WHAT A LOAD OF TRIPE!

First of all, I'm not trying to deny anyone out of their opinions. If you prefer one console to another, go for it, get the games, play it and if you want, tell the world about it! After all, it's even more fun when you can tell people about things, share the excitement and in turn, get more excitement from others.

Why is it, though, we get people judging consoles by the hardware and graphics. After all, the Nintendo 64 was better than the Playstation and look which one prevailed! Graphics aren't everything. Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 64 was one of the more popular titles on the Nintendo, yet if you take a look at the graphics, they're terrible! The game was fun to play and that's why it was popular - nothing to do with graphics. Sure, some games benefit with better graphics, but most games are just as good with a decent level of graphics as opposed to an excellent level of graphics.

"My console has Dolby 5.1 surround sound!" What do you want? A bloody medal? I couldn't care less what version sound my consoles have, providing they play sound. Sure, I personally prefer CD-quality music and clear sound effects, but I'm sure having the sound coming from your TV, coffee table and the other room isn't going to improve your gaming experience that much.

There are some features with consoles that do make them better. Having four controller ports instead of two is a hell of a lot better, and has been standard ever since the Nintendo 64. Sure, Sony seem to like making money out of multi-taps (which, although it doesn't make any difference really, is another idea copied from the Super Nintendo), but they really should consider having four ports on their next next-gen' console. Most people have a TV large enough to cope with up to four players simultaneously without anyone having problems seeing anyway, and being able to play with three other mates instead of one makes social gaming a lot more fun.

I just wish people would stop making stupid comparisons between consoles that don't actually make the consoles any better anyway. Sure, the X-box has a hard disk drive, the Playstation 2 has a DVD-drive, playable out of the box, and the GameCube has smaller discs, yet, those don't actually make the games any more fun to play! If anything, games were more fun when they were simple, like in the days of the Super Nintendo and MegaDrive!


Before anyone questions, the reason I posted this here is because I have noticed that more people are posting stupid "mine is better than yours" comments here, moreso than they are the Sony and Nintendo forums. Maybe those guilty of the above will read this, though it probably wont change them. They'll probably see the topic title and be ready for a console wars argument. If you're gonna play games - enjoy them, don't argue over them!

This was posted in the X-box forum because at the time it was levels of maturity in there were lower than here. But you mucked that all up didn't you!

I didn't think the Super Smash Bros. graphics were too bad either. Dolby 5.1 sound DOES make a difference really, and I'd say that it's not as important as four controller ports, but still an argument. Anyway, it's games that count really.

ok first i did it this way as its easier to get my points clear, its not to make my word count go up or anything and also it isnt like ive copyed it all.

The food on it really annoyed me and the backgrounds, but like you said the game played well and the graphics are not that bad i think.

Very true i used to just have the sound coming out of the TV but then i put it in my stero and yes it was louder and i heard somethings i didnt hear before but i found after the attration of it being louder i soon didnt notice it and made no real diffrence to the game.

Seeming like many people are always moaning about the cost of games and stuff that should mean they moan about the price of controllers meaning they would hate having to pay £20 for a 4 player connection meaning that PS2 is not as cost effective as people say.

its the games that do that and any way DVD players are almost in every house hold now.



although i must say at some times its every hard not to be biased to the console you own.

Got it to balance on all four legs I did.

I done that except i used a worm.
Didn't work as well as i would have hoped

You can keep trying to tell these people the right way to go Edgy, but for most of them it's like trying to teach a tortoise to do gymnastics. Very. Hard.

I can see the fun in arguing about graphics and sound capabilities and other features that games and conosles have - infact I have joined in some of these 'discussions' myself.

Just, some people take it one stage too far, and even though Scotty 2 Hotty was trying to get people to diss consoles I'm not too keen on in support of Nintendo, he gives Nintendo fans a bad name and therefore, like the topic title suggests, he is an idiot.

I know this topic probably wont change anyone like him at all, but there's always the tiniest chance it might.

I think infamous or notorious is the word, Sir Auron. I posted the same response in the X-Box Forum response Dr Duck. If they won't pay attention to SR rules, then I can't see them changing their ways due to this.

However, it might do some difference, and I too will probably vote for you Edgy. (I'm deciding between you, AfroJoe or RM18).

A noble effort, but unfortunately, i doubt we'll see much improvement any time soon.

Then again, if we all keep expressing our opinions of the lame spam, or just ignore it, maybe they'll just not bother.
