A while ago turbonutter mentioned a program called the gimp.

I'd heard of it before, but not to the extent of knowing what it does (though i understand it to be an image manipulation utility), where to get it, or if it's really any good.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

My Photoshop 7 "save for web" has completely stopped working now, after I deleted c:\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0

Stupid Adobe, now I have to find the CD again...

Nope, i have none right now.

Used to have photoshop on the computer when i picked it up second hand, but had to reformat the hdd and lost it.
Been thinking about photoshop elements though..

Anyway, got lost in the technical words that went over my head and many things i needed to download and link together last time, so i'm off to try and figure out what i'm doing again now.

That was aimed at Dr Duck :D I like image programs, only ever use 1 though, use Fireworks to convert the images to different file types.

Bah, Windows,i'm not at all happy with it at this moment, although, when I say Windows I mean Windows98.
Anyway, Gimp's a good tool, have you got Photoshop, Fireworks or PSP already?

Very true, although in Linux you can detach some of the menus and have them visible all the time. Not sure about Windows though.

Yeah, I had that problem, wondering where all the filters..etc where, my biggest problem with it is allthe windows but you get used to that after a while, it really is a great program but I don't see it as a Photoshop replacement although, it's legally free and it works on Linux! what else could you want? (don't answer that)

It's a photoshop replacement. Not as good as Photoshop in some, better in some, kicks Photoshop right out of the window in a few. It needs a lot of work to get the best out of it, and in the end you'll just end up loving the one you use most and hating the one you use least for not being the one you use most.

*shrug*

When you install it, hint: right-click.
