All he really wanted, was to inspire people. Give them a reason to live, a reason to be loved, a reason to wake and sleep. But he got very lonely. And he found it hard to smile. And he found it hard to live for a while, because he just seemed like a character, something that somebody had made up in their head.

The sort of kid that would say his own name was his friend's, so he'd get beaten up and not his friend.

The sort of boy that would happily walk around in his underwear, so his friend could wear his clothes.

The kind of person that would continue to write customer satisfaction notes about a member of staff in a chainstore until that person was given a payrise.

Of course, this person would never exist. Nobody would be like this.

Nobody would ever buy a picnic basket for a friend who'd been finding it hard to cope with life, just to make him smile.

Nobody would go and buy someone a box of chocolates, just because they're thankful for them.

And would this person do these sort of things, because of the way people had inspired him in the past?

The way perhaps somebody had kidnapped him, and took him to an ice cream convention?

The fact that someone may have taken him on a five mile walk across cliffs and beaches, just to show him what the sunset looks like from there?

Perhaps because a random stranger once gave him five pounds just because he looked a little sad?

Could simple things like that really have inspired this person to walk up to strangers in the street, just to tell them they're beautiful?

And why does he place his hands on everything in his pockets as he walks past rivers and bridges? Is it because he's afraid of them falling in the water? Or is it because he wants to be able to take them out of his pocket quickly if he has to dive in to help someone?

And what of the blind man who fell in love?

And why does he still try to help the arrogant people who refuse to take his help? Why does he still try to inspire those that take anger at little things, those without a sense of humour, those without a sense of fun? It's not because he wants them to see the light, or follow his religion, it's just because he wants them to do the things they really want to do, and stop pretending they're happy.

Who has the dedication and strength of will to keep fighting for what he believes in? Who could possibly always be there for people, for others, and expect nothing in return?

This person, doesn't exist. He never will because we refuse to believe he will.

So he gets lonely. And he gets very upset. And he withdraws into his mind for a while, and goes on adventures and speaks to his friends he created.

And they'll encourage him. They'll give him a pat on the back, smile and play with him, and off he'll go again, with the sole purpose of trying to make people smile. And to show them how to keep smiling.

And he often fails.

But he'll keep smiling. Because he has his little escapes. Music he can listen to and dance with his mind, places he can go and sing, sunsets he can watch with the people he loves most at his side. Even if they're miles away, even if they're dead, even if they don't really exist, and they're all in his mind... they're there, with him, smiling too.

And that boy, the one that's so desperately tried to inspire people all on his own, isn't so lonely anymore.

No. He's not lonely at all.

Well I enjoyed reading that this afternoon, and had I have been able to reply at the time I would have had something relevant to add. But now it's later, so I don't, sorry.

Yeah nice.
In a sensitive, crying man way.
But nice.

If you reply quoting your original message, the characters are there. Odd.

And thanks Goatboy. :0D

well yes, but I don't want the stops there.

I know these forums will take ALT+0160 as a blank space.

eg:

this text is not aligned directly left

see?
