I'd heard it before but didn't really know it was true, I'm sure others of you also knew it was true so this is for the record.
Metal Gear Solid was originally thought up by Nintendo on the NES. Of course not by the same title, but it might as well have been. Metal Gear was the name and Konami (still) made the game (see what I did?)

It's got original screenshots and box cover along with the cheesy intro song. It even looks mysteriously better the then sony's versions...

Saw metal gear 2 for the nes on ebay a bit ago. Sounds like it'd be quite good, judging by that site too.
