OK, I'm trying to connect to IRC using the mIRC client. However, it returns an error saying I have an insecure SOCKS server.
I cannot connect either using a network connection or direct internet connection.
The precise error I get is:
[20:22] Closing Link: [172.183.113.112] Z:Lined (Insecure SOCKS server)
If anyone can tell me how to correct this, please tell me!!

Can be several things...
Are you running a firewall prog? It could be blocking the irc server from doing the scan. In which case you need to add a rule to allow the scan.
Another possibility is internet connection sharing programs (like the one included with 98, 2k etc), although I presume with a direct connection you weren't using one.
Or you really could be running an insecure SOCKS server, but I doubt thats it. :)
