They say its got crappy graphics, with a crappy framerate, crappy music, crappy gameplay, crappy levels, and apparently you are better off getting the first game.

Hey, I was only regurgitating what the general word was in America...
Can I step in here guys... I got Driver 2 thanks to Ali this morning and I would have to say yes it does suffer from disgusting pop ups everywhere, it is a lot more tougher than the original, the cops stick to you like glue most of the time, I would have to say that it is still a brilliant game and very playable. Thats because I love the huge jumps theyve put in Chicago, you get some serious hang time... I do like the original, but I think you should actually PLAY the game before you judge it.

I might have to rent it out when it's released, if I can ever get a copy, i'm quite happy that this site is getting back to talking about computers, consoels and games, it was annoying to see so many letters about, well, erm crap, quite alot from me but then you expect nothing less than crap from me.
I don't think they have to try very hard. On SR it's only £28.99 which is a bargain. Backed up with SR's returns policy and after sale customer care, you can't really lose. Buy it now!

PS1. But simulaly, reviewers in America actually have played the game, and SR are trying to sell the game.
so it's like GTA but in 3D! thats sounds good, better read some reviews. is it out on the PS1 or PS2?
All of the reviews on SR tend to disagree with you there. The fact that you can now swap to a different car mid-chase makes the gameplay richer, the new environments make the plot chug along at a fair pace, the good parts from the original have been carried over, and overall it looks a good game. I'd buy that for a dollar.
