Where would all the ports go? How would we decide on what to play, could we play anything? Will we ever need to buy games again? The Human Console would be none of the above; the human console would in fact... be you. Scientists are always reaching out to find the next possible cancer cure or even the next safety mechanism that will re-enforce your vehicles safety system, but with more and more wanting to get a break-through in either medical or technological science, what will we see next? With this being the 21st century I am sure that you are aware of what can and can not be done to change our every day lives, but do we know the true extent of the technology available? That brings me around to the Human Console; the micro-chip which would turn you or your family into a console is not too far away from reality. With only an internal Micro-chip installed, how are we going to know what to play on?
Your eyes would act as a retinal scanner, images could be glanced over and then stored in the brain, this makes the world of The Human Console even bigger as it would be possible to play anything which you have witnessed and stored in your brain. Past Christmas' could be experienced once more, if you have made a mistake you will be able to go back and correct your errors, this wouldn't be a time machine so it won't change the feeling of the person you hurt, but it would ease your conscience and make you feel better. Go where-ever you want do whatever you want and play with whatever you want to; fancy a spin in your next door neighbours Ferrari F-50, what’s to stop you?
The Human Console would use your body's cells to modify your daily activities, your brain would act as a Hard-Drive which would store data and any references that you have picked up; your chest would hold all of your characters peripherals, strengths, weaknesses, lung capacity and any health issues which need to be assessed. Your eyes would act as the screen, the limit of your vision would be almost endless and the environments would be as big as your imagination wanted them to be. Every organ would play a part in what would be the biggest gaming adventure that you will ever experience, but how do we play the games? If you are a football fan then you will be able to play on your favourite grounds, even against your favourite players, after all you will have watched your team play enough so the stadiums and players will be like a second nature to your brain. If you have an image of your desire stored in the brain then you will be able to combine images to create the game you want to play, who knows, Halifax Town FC and Torquay FC could play at the Nou Camp and you could be the star player!
I suppose you are wondering exactly how the console/you would work. The Micro-Chip would act as the consoles on/off switch; the tricky part would come when your body changes from its normal state into The Human Console. The activation of the console will be in the form of an external chop which fits into the inner of either ear, this chip will then transmit the information to the brain and the brain will then send back the images which you currently have stored in your brain. With the images fixed into the external chip you will be prompted to close your eyes and select the style/genre of game you want to play (e.g. football or racing). With your eyes closed the Micro-chip will activate, this will cause a tripod transmission which will work between the brain and the 2 Micro-Chips which are both external (in the ear canal) and internal (installed during the chip installation). With the transmission active the choice of games will be all down to you choose/mix and match images to create your own scenario in a real time environment or select a game from a pre-programmed list which is stored on the internal chip. The pre-programmed list will contain games from all the major consoles out on the market, this chip can be updated via a transmission from an external device; this could be in the form of Beta waves which would travel through the skin and into the chip.
Safety will play a big part in the Human Console and this is where research over the next few years will play a big part. Exposure to Beta waves and any other active source which would be given off from the Micro-Chip would need to be looked at in huge detail, minimising such issues would be the only answer if it was to ever take off, at the end of the day you wouldn't want to expose yourself or a family member to something which could possibly be harmful. Not only would safety play a big part but so would the cost of such a product. At first only the very prosperous gamers would be able to afford such a product, as more and more people get the product it will then and only then come down in price. Scientists will need to test the products using human 'guinea pigs' to see the long term side-effects, this will show us what could happen 5 or even 10 years down the line if the chip is updated or used fro gaming on a regular basis.
The Human Console is a possibility, all though you may think it is far fetched now in a 10 years time it won't. The market is ever-growing into an empire where one man wants to control what happens, so far people like Bill Gates have dominated the computer market for a long time, Sega and Nintendo have also dominated the console market now for over 10 years, but as the current battle between the consoles show, one of them wants to take the number 1 spot. A product like The Human Console would produce one of the biggest up-roars in the history of computer/console gaming, the question is, who will take the first step into making this a reality?

You only live once, use it you jews.
All games would be ran in a real time environment where you feel cold, get hot and that way you have to get yourself out of your own situations. A health/life meter will be in the bottom corner of your vision so it wuld always be possible to see how much longer you can keep going.

*Ahem* Moving swiftly on...

Eeep! An external chop? *hides*
> With the images fixed into the external chip

Oh, chip? *Sighs and comes out of hiding* Phew...
The Human Console sounds cool and would have an unlimited amount of potential. You'd only be limited by your own imagination. I suppose it would be like taking the word 'virtual' out of virtual reality. Everything would be supplied in order for you to play, yet you would be in the real world. I do have one question, though, which Bill Gates would gladly have an answer for. How much would it cost...?
